Song of the Day - Would You Ever - Skrillex & Poo Bear

Image result for would you ever

Good morning and Happy Tuesday to all!  I'm sitting here wondering why I haven't posted this recent Skrillex jam, being that I gave it a shout out way back on August 2nd's New Music Fridays.  Nice, more mainstream tune than we're used to from multi-talented EDM mixmaster Skrillex.  Check out the thumpin', bumpin' Would You Ever...

Song of the Day - Trouble - Disco Killerz, feat. Alida

Image result for trouble disco killerz

I don't know about the name of this act, but seems like they're not killing disco, they're reviving it. Ah, this is one of those tracks I like to call neo-disco because it's got that feel and it's so easy to dance to!  Trouble is a song that takes a couple of listens to sink in, but when it does, you'll be swaying' your hips in no time...

Song of the Day - Staying Up - Matoma,& The Vamps

Image result for staying up matoma

The Vamps have teamed up a second time with Norwegian deejay'producer Matoma for a sweet-sounding and catchy tune that'll make you wanna sing along even during the first listen.  The last time these two acts got together, the results were a smash as All Night became a huge smash all over the world.  This one may even top that.  Check out Staying Up...

New Music Fridays, September 15th, 2017 - Fresh New Tracks

Hello and welcome back to John's Music World New Music Fridays.  It's been kind of a slow week in the new music world, well for me at least, but as always there are a few gems to be found.  Read on...

Too Much To Ask - Niall Haron

Former One Direction member Niall Horan celebrated his 24th birthday this week with an announcement of his debut forthcoming solo album, Flicker, and a brand new song.  Too Much To Ask is a beautifully performed ballad that, along with his previous song This Town, just might bring him in league with fellow One Directioner Harry Styles as one serious solo crooner.  Take a listen to Too Much To Ask...

Best Friend - Sofi Tukker

The New York based duo Sofi Tukker has been growing on me more and more ever since I first came across their song Johny and it now looks like the rest of the world is catching on.   Their latest, Best Friend, is even more infectious than the ultra-clubby F**k They, which is saying a lot.  Check out the awesome Best Friend...

Find You - Nick Jonas

Former Jonas Brothers member gone solo superstar Nick Jonas had slowed down quite a bit after his breakthrough eponymous album, but now he's back with his second single of the year, and it's a sweet ballad that's clearly bests his prior single, Remember I Told You.  This one's impossible to find anywhere on the Internet, so I highly suggest checking it out on Spotify.

How You Feeling - Superfruit

Openly gay duo YouTube stars and musicians have released their latest single this week and it is instantly likable for it's nice rhythms and catchy hook.  Check out How You Feeling...

Flags - Shoffy, with Yuna

Anybody who follows this blog knows how much I love chill music.  Well, this fresh track has all of the resident ingredients of a great chill tune...soft, easy-breezy vocals and a smooth smooth groove. Check out Flags...

So there you have it, my picks for the best new music this week.  There's some exciting stuff coming up in the weeks ahead, so as always, stay tuned.

Song of the Day - Lonely Together - Avicii, feat. Rita Ora

Image result for lonely together avicii

After a long absence from the music scene, it looks like Swedish deejay/producer is back on track with some brand new music.  This one I featured on New Music Fridays back in early August and now, with a few weeks of sitting in my folder of current music, it's been growing on me more and more, especially with singer Rita Ora's powerful pipes guiding the song along.  Check out Lonely Together...

Flashback Friday Song of the Day - Low - Flo Rida

Image result for low flo rida

I've been listening to a lot of what I call dance rap jams lately.  Ooh, so much good stuff in that genre, all the way from the late 80's/early 90's right up until today.  In fact this genre's so much fun you may find me doing a special Dance Rap Jams Week here on John's Music World.  For now, here's one that always gets me moving...it's Flo Rida and Low...

Song of the Day - Love So Soft - Kelly Clarkson

Image result for love so soft

I highlighted Kelly Clarkson's new song on last week's New Music Fridays and I'm appreciating it even more now after listening to it for a few days.  She's still got an amazing voice and I'm pretty excited to hear her new Meaning of Life record due out soon.  For now, though, check out Love So Soft...

Hump Day Song of the Day - OMG - Camila Cabello, feat. Quavo

Image result for omg camila cabello

Cuban-born former Fifth Harmony member Camila Cabello is becoming a hot new artist all on her own.  Her upcoming solo debut, The Hurting, The Healing, The Loving has already spawned the hot, Latin-tinged Havana and this sensual one that is a perfect fit for Hump Day.  Check out OMG...

Song of the Day - Crybaby - Paloma Faith

Image result for crybaby paloma

I included this sweet track in my picks for the best new tunes on New Music Fridays a couple of weeks ago and it has grown on me even more since.  Paloma Faith has got a beautiful voice and the chorus to this one is sing-along pop at its best.  Check out Crybaby...

Song of the Day - Lust for Life - Lana Del Ray, feat. The Weekend

Good morning and Happy Monday!  Let's start the week off with some vintage, yet new, Lana Del Ray.  This one's the title cut from her latest album and it's vintage Lana...breathy, sexy, and well, lusty.  Check out Lust for Life...

New Music Fridays: September 8th, 2017 - The Week's Hottest New Tracks

Hello and welcome back to John's Music World New Music Fridays.  As always, there is some great new stuff this week from the likes of Hailee Steinfeld, rapper ILoveMakonnen, Kelly Clarkson, Sam Smith and more.  Check out this week's hottest new tunes...

Let Me Go - Hailee Steinfeld, with Alesso and Florida Georgia Line

I have been loving everything actress turned singer Hailee Steinfeld has done so far, from the sweet and tender Starving to  the ultra catchy Most Girls.  This time Steinfeld's joined forces with country music duo Florida Georgia Line and Swedish deejay/producer Alesso for another irresistible pop gem.  Take a listen to this sure to be hit...

Love - ILoveMakonnen, featuring Rae Stremmurd

Rapper ILoveMakonnen has come up with an immediately likable rock tinged tune that had me loving it from the moment I clicked play,  Check out this foot tapper...

Love So Soft - Kelly Clarkson

Oh yeah, Kelly Clarkson is back and sounding better than ever on this catchy new sexy tune from her upcoming 8th studio album, Meaning of Life.  If you're a Kelly Clarkson fan, you are gonna LOVE this one...

Too Good at Goodbyes - Sam Smith

There's one more notable comeback this week and that is by former Best New Artist Grammy Award winner Sam Smith.  The smooth British crooner has released a brand new gem from an upcoming second studio album and its as stellar as anything he's done before.  Check out the beautiful Too Good at Goodbyes...

Up All Night - Beck

Oh man, I used to love Beck.  I absolutely wore out his 1996 record Odelay, but he completely fell off my radar since then.  When I saw this tune listed on Spotify's New Music Fridays, I was intrigued that he was still making music and checked it out.  Bottom line...he's still got it.  This one's catchy and pleasant and he just might make me a fan again.  Check out Up All Night...

Sometimes, like this week, it's difficult to come up with only five new songs to whet your appetites, so in addition to these great tracks, here are some other notable new releases:

Dusk Till Dawn - Zayn, with Sia
Disco Tits - Tove Lo
You're the Best Thing Abut Me - U2
I Just Can't - R3HAB, Quintino
Shockandawe - Miguel
Out of My Head - Loote

Song of the Day - New Rules - Dua Lipa

Image result for new rules dua lipa lyrics

Dua Lipa is a name you'll probably be hearing a lot of in the future.  The British singer released her debut eponymous album back in June and this song, the record's 6th single, has reached higher than the previous five and somehow now people are starting to take notice.  I featured it as the lead-off tune in New Music Fridays August 25th edition and for good reason.  Check out this tropical house gem...

Song of the Day - Supermodel (You Better Work) - RuPaul

Image result for rupaul supermodel

Today is RuPaul's Drag Con at New York's Jacob Javitz Center, a two-day extravaganza of drag queens, celebrities and much more, and I will be attending with my pal Tara.  I have no idea exactly what to expect, but one thing is for sure...it won't be boring.  So stay tuned for some photos and perhaps a post or two, and in the meantime, check out the song that started it all for Miss Ru...

Flashback Friday Song of the Day - Gloria - Laura Branigan

Image result for hurricane gloria

Back on September 25, 1985, Hurricane Gloria struck Long Island, and it's one of those storms those of us from round these parts remember well.  Today, we all watch in awe as Hurricane Irma. the most powerful storm to ever hit anywhere in the Atlantic, heads straight towards Florida.  I've got many friends down there and I hope and pray that they will all weather this monster without much damage, and I am sincerely hoping that Irma doesn't turn this way afterwards, which is a definite possibility. Laura Branigan's Gloria made its second surge on the charts back in September of 1985 due to the potential of that storm of the same name.  All I can say is Irma, please be gentle in Florida and then head out to sea because there's no song called Irma, at least that I know of.

Song of the Day - Jolene - Miley Cyrus

Image result for jolene miley cyrus

I was going through some saved links and I came across this one from way back and I must've saved it for a reason, probably to post it here.  Apparently, in 2012, Miley posted some videos of herself performing several cover tunes from her own backyard and called it...what else?  The Backyard Sessions.  Here the young singer covers a 1973 hit of her godmother's, Dolly Parton's fabulous Jolene.  Enjoy!

Hump Day Song of the Day - Heatwave - Amber Mark

Ah, it's the first Hump Day of the new school year and here's an honorable mention from August 18th's New Music Fridays.  This one still hearkens summer with tropical beats and a funky sound. Check it out...

Song of the Day - Back to Life - Soul II Soul

Image result for back to life acapella

I've got two traditional songs I usually play this time of the year.  I'm not sure if I'll do the other one yet...stay tuned...but since today is the first day of school, well, it's back to life for me.  Getting back to life is always a good thing, whether we believe it or not.  Summer vacation is wonderful, but reality is what allows that to happen, so you've got to just do it.  So anyway, as I go back to school today with all of my kiddies, you click play and enjoy this absolutely awesome acapella version of Soul II Soul's Back to Life...

Song of the Day - Ever Since New York - Harry Styles

Image result for ever since new york

I've been finding myself listening to Harry Styles album often, and for good reason.  The record is remarkable in a lot of ways, and each track tells a different story in varying genres and sounds that are equally good.  It's actually the first album in a long time I am considering reviewing because it's simply stellar.  Here's one of my favorite tracks from the set, a melancholy tune that's got a fantastic hook.  Check out a performance of Ever Since New York from the Today Show...

New Music Fridays: September 1st, 2017 - A Great Week in New Music!

Hello and welcome back to John's Music World New Music Fridays.  What a stellar week this is in new music.  I've bookmarked no less than fifteen hot new tracks to my Current playlist and though I won't speak of them all, I will give them mention.  Here we go...

What Lovers Do - Maroon 5, featuring SZA

I've never been a big fan of Adam Levine & Co., but I am sold on this fresh, R&B sound.  The song is sweet and easy on the ears and for me to have downloaded it, you know it's good.  Check it out...

If I'm Lucky - Jason Derulo

I really dig Jason Derulo's sound, whether he's wantin you to want him or he's swalla la la la-ing, he always gets me moving.  This new one is more middle of the road and a little more mid tempo, but funky and very smooth.  Check it out...

So Am I - Ty Dolla $ign, featuring Damian Marley & Skrillex

Ty Dolla $ign is another artist I never would have imagined having as a lead performer in my playlist, but this reggae twinged track has got me loving him right now.  Take a listen...

Selfish Love - Jessie Ware

This sultry, jazzy song is absolutely, groovingly awesome!   One of my favorite tracks of the week. Check it out...

It all started with  broken heart...

Girls on Boys - Galantis, featuring ROZES

I've been following Swedish production duo Galantis for awhile now, and though most of the stuff I've heard from them has been kinda Euro silly (but fun...remember Peanut Butter Jelly or No Money?), this one is way more mainstream.  With sweet vocals and a really nice backbeat, this one will be in my listening playlist for a long time to come.  Check it out...

Crybaby - Paloma Faith

Retro singer Paloma Faith has just released a new song from her upcoming fourth studio album, The Architect, and it is downright sweet!  I could definitely see this being a big hit, especially on Adult Contemporary charts.  Take a listen...

Obvious - Eden Prince, Cassie

Finally, a dance tune I can sink my teeth into!  Though this one is somewhat chill, it's got a nice, bass-y dance beat in between the soft vocals.  Though I've never heard of this artist, I am ready to check out some more of his work.  Have a listen to Obvious...

Truly, what a week!  The songs I've shared here are varied in style and genre and they're all great in their own way.  Ah, my Current playlist is getting jammed!  Like I said above, this was not all of the nice new tunes this week, only the best of the best.  Here are some honorable mentions that are also worth a listen:

Broken Machine - Nothing But Thieves
That's All - Mauwe
Staying Up - Matoma, The Vamps
Just Kids - POWERS
Love Is Alive - Louis the Child, feat. Elohim
Lambo - Maria Lynn, Steve Reece
Bad Ones - Matthew Dear, Tegan & Sarah

Song of the Day - Family Affair - Mary J Blige

Come on everybody get on up
'Cause you know we gots to get it crunk
Mary J. is in the spot tonight
As I'mma make it feel alright (Make it feel alright)

Image result for family affair mary j blige

I finally got to building my Mary J Blige playlist on my Spotify account and man, that was a thre-plus hour trip down memory lane.  Mary and I go back a long way, and I have loved her ever since I first heard those famous voicemail messages set to a funky beat back in 92.  I've had the privilege of seeing her in concert twice, and her catalog is a huge part of the soundtrack of my life.  I've got so many favorite songs of hers, but this one just always gets me up and moving.  Here's Family Affair...

Song of the Day - Almost Home - Sultan + Shepard, feat. Nadia Ali & IRO

Image result for sultan and shepard almost home

I introduced this song back on July 22nd's New Music Fridays and posted it again a couple of weeks later, and yet the tune still grows on me.  It's the perfect blend of tenderness and euphoria, as tender vocals and beautiful melodies blend with dramatic and dancey chords in a total ear candy experience. Take a listen as Canadian production duo Sultan + Shepard do their thing.  Here's Almost Home...

Flashback Friday Song of the Day - Not Fair - Lily Allen

Image result for not fair lily allen

It's not fair and I think you're really mean
I think you're really mean
I think you're really mean
Oh you're supposed to care that you never made me scream
you never made me scream

It's Flashback Friday and here's a throwback to 2009 and Lily Allen at her very best.  In this tune, she takes some good old fashioned country music and gives it the same, very adult treatment that she's so good at giving.  It's my favorite song of hers and I hope you're going to like it, but to get it you must listen carefully to the words, hehe. Here's Not Fair...

Song of the Day - He Like That - Fifth Harmony

Image result for fifth harmony he like that

I mentioned in this week's New Music Fridays that this is only the second song ever by popular girl group Fifth Harmony that I really like, and for good reason...nice rhythm, catchy hook, and all around fun.  Check out He Like That...

Song of the Day - Gold - Camden Cox

Image result for gold camden cox

Today's song is one I featured on August 18th's New Music Fridays.  The tune is by London-based singer Camden Cox and it's a light, yet fast-paced pop dance track that's very easy on the ears.  Check out Gold...

New Music Fridays: August 25th, 2017 - The Week's Hottest New Tracks

Hello and welcome back to John's Music World New Music Fridays.  This week's slate of releases was not overly stellar, but as always there are a few new nice tracks to sink your teeth into.  Check out this week's best in new music...

New Rules - Dua Lipa

Dua Lipa is a British artist who released her debut eponymous album back in June.  The album has already spawned seven singles, and this, the sixth, has been the most successful.  The tune was actually released in July, but just discovered by me on my weekly expedition for new music, and it caught my ear for its tropical, easy-breezy grooves and its mellow vocals.  If you love tropical house, then you're going to love this one.  Check it out...

You Already Know - Fergie, featuring Nicki Minaj

On Friday, Fergie, of the Black Eyed Peas, released two surprise (well, to me, anyway) singles from her upcoming Double Dutchess album.  When I first heard the news, I immediately checked them out.  One, Hungry with Rick Ross, I wasn't crazy about, but this one...ooh!  Vintage bad girl funkdified Fergalicious!  Check out my Song of the Day post of the jam here.

He Like That - Fifth Harmony

After their irresistible smash, Work From Home, I tried, I really tried to like this girl group known as Fifth Harmony.  I went through their catalog of tunes and never quite found anything that floated my boat, until this one.  He Like That is a funky, mid-tempo tune that's got head bopping beats, and a nice, catchy hook.  Check it out...

Look What You Made Me Do - Taylor Swift

I am not now, nor have ever been any sort of fan of Taylor Swift, so this one is included simply for posterity.  I've seen a lot of negative comments from Swift fans about this newest single from her upcoming Reputation album, and even a really bad review of the song and the video in USA Today.  I don't think the song is all that bad.  Yeah, it does sound like she's kind of whining about whatever negatives have floated her way over the years, but musically this one is pure unadulterated pop, and proving it so, Swift's video shattered a record previously held by Adele for most YouTube views in a 24 hour period.  Check it out for yourself...

Havana - Camila Cabello, Young Thug

This last entry is unusual for this sort of post, mostly because it's not really mainstream.  It's got an irresistible mid-tempo Spanish back beat set to former Fifth Harmony member Cabello's sultry vocals.  I loved this one from the very first listen.  Check it out...

Song of the Day - There's Nothing Holding Me Back - Shawn Mendes

Image result for there's nothing holding me back

I really have no idea why I haven't posted this song before now.  It's been in my rotation for a long, long time now and I absolutely love it!  I got to watch a clip of his performance from the VMA's the other night and judging from the crowd's reaction, this very talented young man is now a big, huge, bona fide star.  Check out the very catchy There's Nothing Holding Me Back...

Song of the Day - Shape of You - Ed Sheeran

Image result for shape of you

One of the biggest hits to come out of the last year has surely been Ed Sheeran's Shape of You, and MTV's Artist of the Year did an amazing performance of the song last night with special guest, rapper Lil Uzi Vert, who joined Sheeran on stage towards the end of the number. The clip is not available to us here on this blog, but you can check it out right here.  In the meantime, check out the real thing...

Song of the Day - You Already Know - Fergie, feat. Nicki Minaj

Image result for you already know fergie

What a coincidence! I've long been updating my playlists on Spotify and I was just working on creating one for the members of the Black Eyed Peas, most notably will.i.am, Pras and Ms. Fergie. Well lo and behold during that exact time, I get an email that Fergie had just released two new tracks from her upcoming Double Dutchess album (I didn't even know she was working on an album!), Hungry, featuring Rick Ross, and this one, an instantly recognizable Fergie tune that's downright catchy and fun.  Check out You Already Know...

Song of the Day - Water Me - Lizzo

I am free, yeah yeah
Come water me, oh oh
Love you so, but if you don't
I have to leave, oh no

Image result for water me lizzo

Here's a song I featured last week on New Music Fridays.  The tune is by Minneapolis native Lizzo, and it's not only got an irresistible hook and backbeat, but it's got a great, positive message of loving yourself.  With a lil bit of humor thrown in, this song is the bomb!  Check out Water Me...

Flashback Friday Song of the Day - Philadelphia Freedom - Elton John

Image result for philadelphia freedom

I just spent three days in Philadelphia, my fifth trip there in the past year, and like always, it was a great time.  The city itself is beautiful, the people friendly, and the food...yum!  I'm already looking forward to my next trip, but in the meantime, here's a classic ode to the City of Brotherly Love by Elton John...

Song of the Day - Sunny Days - Bel Heir

Image result for sunny days bel heir

I don't normally post tunes on the rockish side of things, but here's a summertime gem from a trio that call themselves Bel Heir.  Paste Magazine says it hearkens a ride down a winding California road on a sunny day.  Yeah, that's exactly what this is.  Check out Sunny Days...

Hump Day Song of the Day - Same Girl - Mark Johns

Image result for Same Girl - Mark Johns

Here's a sexy, sultry song I featured on New Music Fridays a couple of weeks ago.  It's by new recording artist Mark Johns, and this debut single, produced by Skrillex,  was featured on Billboard, which also named her an artist to watch.  Check out Same Girl...

Song of the Day - Raise Your Glass - P!nk

Earlier today on John's World, I posted a commentary on P!nk's newest, What About Us, and kind of serious, tune. Well now here's a song that's simply nothing but fun.  Check out Raise Your Glass...

Song of the Day - Something To Hold On To - Emily Warren

Image result for something to hold on to emily warren

I've got something a little different for you today, a piano ballad that hearkens back to the likes of Carole King or Carly Simon.  Emily Warren is more known for her songwriting than her singing, penning tunes for such high profile artists as The Chainsmokers, Fifth Harmony, Naughty Boy, Sean Paul and many more.  Well now she's released a song on her own, a tender tune that I liked the very first time I ever heard it.  Check out the beautiful Something To Hold On To...

New Music Fridays: August 18th, 2017 - The Week's Hottest New Tracks

Hello and welcome back to John's Music World New Music Fridays.  This is an above-par week for new music, with some great new dance tracks that are immediately likable on first listen, as well as some new Miley Cyrus, The Vamps, and of course, the Biebs.  Check out this week's picks...

Friends - Justin Bieber, featuring Bloodpop

It's been awhile since Justin Bieber has put anything out on his own, though he's been doing just fine singing along on other artist's songs.  Well, this week Justin releases a brand new single with Bloodpop that's more of the same great pop/dance/R&B we've come to know, with pleasant melodies nice vocals, and an easy to learn chorus.  Take a listen...

Younger Now - Miley Cyrus

The new Miley just released the third single from her upcoming album of the same title, and like the previous two, Malibu and Inspired, this one's a ballad with beautiful melodies and equally beautiful lyrics and vocals.  Check out the tender Younger Now...

Water Me - Lizzo

My favorite new release of the week is fast, funky and it's got a whole lotta positivity going on.  Oh yeah, this one, by full-figured singer Lizzo, is a fun three minutes of funk that got me on the first listen.  Check it out...

Gold - Camden Cox

Yet another funky dance track released this week, Camden Cox's Gold is nothing but.  Very likable, a lot of fast-moving fun with some nice boom-y beats.  Take a listen...

Can't Resist - Halogen, feat. Adriana Gomez & Lub X tpf

I told you this week's picks are full of hot new dance tracks and this one, by Halogen, is another bass-driven dance floor filler with nice dueling vocals between Adrianna Gomez and Lub X tpf.  Very hot tune! Take a listen...

So there you have it, my top five new music picks for the week.  As always, I hope that you've found something here to whet your appetite for new music, and actually these aren't the only good songs to come out this week.  Here's a list of honorable mentions that I am sure you can find on YouTube if you so choose:

Gravitation - Petit Biscuit
Heatwave - Amber Mark
What We Do - Aexcit
Wicked Ways - Saba Abraha

Check them out...they'er all worth a listen!

Song of the Day - I Feel So Bad - Kungs, feat. Ephemerals

Image result for i feel so bad kungs

Back in 2016, French deejay/producer Kungs released his debut album, Layers, and the first single from that album would go on to become one of my favorite all-time songs. This Girl is such a great tune, with a chill vibe and a dancey center featuring some really great horny horns.  So when I saw that he'd released a brand new song from a forthcoming sophomore album (More Mess, featured in last week's New Music Fridays), I started to check out that first album.  Here I found another great tune called I Feel So Bad, which has a funky backbeat and vocals reminiscent of something Avicii would do.  Check it out...

Saturday, August 19, 2017

Song of the Day - Another Life - Afrojack & David Guetta, feat. Ester Dean

Image result for another life afrojack

I don't know why I haven't featured this one earlier.  Not only is it a very noteworthy collaboration between two superstar deejay/producers, but it's a truly great song, with nice beats, great vocals, and a killer hook.  Check out Another Life...

Flashback Friday Song of the Day - Party Rock Anthem - LMFAO

Image result for party rock anthem

I know that all of y'all remember this one.  It was all over the place just six short years ago.  Well it came on the radio last night and I immediately knew I was going to post it today.  Still as fun now as it was then.  Enjoy...

Song of the Day - Line of Sight - ODESZA, featuring WYNNE and Mansionair

Image result for line of sight odesza

Line of Sight is a beat-driven single with a sweeping synth melody that gives a pop sheen to the Odesza sound. A catchy vocal melody from WYNNE provides an immediate hook, with additional vocals from Mansionair. A rising chorus at the song's end brings a seriously cinematic feel to the tune that fans have begged for nearly three years.

Great song! Check it out...

New Music Fridays: August 11th, 2017 - The Week's Hottest New Tracks

Hello and welcome back to John's Music World New Music Fridays.  It was another slow week last week in new music (I only tagged 7 songs...a new low!), but what did come out is exciting, including the new album by Kesha, some new Avicii, and of course a highly anticipated release from P!nk. Check out my picks for this week's hottest new tracks:

What About Us - P!nk

Friday (actually Thursday) saw a highly anticipated debut track from P!nk's long awaited new album, beautiful Trauma. The song is vintage P!nk, beautifully written and performed.  I posted it as Song of the Day earlier, so check it out here.

Lonely Together - Avicii, featuring Rita Ora

Superstar deejay/producer Avicii released two new tracks this week, the up tempo Without You, featuring Sandro Cavazza, and this nice, sweet track featuring a new favorite singer, Rita Ora.  Check it out...

Little of Your Love - HAIM, BloodPop

HAIM is a trio of sisters with sweet voices whose music I either love or hate.  This new remix of their song Little of Your Love by BloodPop is da bomb.  Check it out...

Let 'Em Talk - Kesha

I am loving this new Kesha!  Her latest outstanding track, from her newly released Rainbow album is three minutes of fast-moving fun, plain and simple.  Check it out...

Well, I told you it was a slow week, but an exciting one nonetheless.  I hope you find something here to whet your appetite for new music.  Stay tuned for more...

I can't believe it has taken me a whole four days to get to this, but ah well, we waited long enough. Finally, the tease I cautiously posted about actually came true.  On Thursday of last week, P!nk finally released a debut single from...yes...a new album, and now I am officially excited!  The new album, beautiful Trauma, comes out October 13th and I have already circled that day on my calendar. If this new song, What About Us, is a harbinger of things to come, then that makes me even more excited because the tune is the kind of tender, yet uplifting song we've all come to know from this uber-talented singer-songwriter.  Check it out...

I know, I know, I just posted Kylie on Friday.  Well I love Kylie, and she kept me rocking in my car on my way home from a weekend camping in Pennsylvania.  This one, from her 2007 X album (my favorite!), is total Kylie...sultry, sexy and oh so delicious!  Check out the burlesque-ish Two Hearts...

Hump Day Song of the Day - F**k They = Sofi Tukker

Image result for fuck they sofi tukker

Back in January I posted this song called Johny by an alternative duo that call themselves Sofi Tukker.  The song was very Euro-alternative and I really liked it, but I hadn't come across anything else by the duo in the months since, so I really forgot about them.  But when I was penning July 28th's New Music Fridays, I came across this mindless, bass-thumping and very funky jam with the explicit and I thought I recognized the name, but wasn't sure exactly who they were until just a litle while ago.  The two songs are so different, I never would have guessed they were recorded by the same artist, but yeah, that voice of singer Sophie Hawley-Weld is unmistakable on both.  Funky, funky song, really, but warning, explicit lyrics ahead...

Song of the Day - Almost Home - Sultan + Shepard

I featured this song on New Music Fridays from July 21st and I've grown to like it even more since,  I love how this one starts out as a chill song, but gets real dancey towards the chorus.  Great tune!

Song of the Day - Blood in the Cut - K. Flay

Image result for blood in the cut lyrics

I need noise
I need the buzz of a sub
Need the crack of a whip
Need some blood in the cut

I first posted this one back in March and it's been a part of my regular playlist ever since.  I played it for my pals during a road trip and they were both like, who is this?  Yeah.  I think that last time I compared her to Alanis Morissette, not really in voice, but in that style...a lil bit of angst, a lil bit of in your face, and a nice hard rocking track to go along.  You should definitely check this one out...

New Music Fridays: August 4th, 2017 - Five Hot, Fresh Tracks for You

Hello and welcome back to John's Music World New Music Fridays. It's kind of a slow week this week for hot new tracks, but nevertheless there are some great new tunes to get excited about.  Check it out...

More Mess - Kungs, featuring Olly Murs & Coely

You may or may not remember this artist from his utterly awesome tune This Girl, but he is back with another great single.  More Mess is a fast and frenzied up tempo gem, quite different from the previously mentioned track, but great stuff nonetheless.  Check out More Mess...

Wild Thoughts - DJ Khaled, featuring Rihanna & Bryson Tiller

DJ Khaled has been pumping out lots of great, smooth dance tracks of late, and he's worked with some of the hottest artists in the business today.  His latest, featuring Rihanna and Bryson Tiller, samples Carlos Santana and is as smooth as dance tracks go.  Check out Wild Thoughts...

That's a Man Maury - Manila Luzon, featuring Willam

Former Rupaul's Drag Race star Manila Luzon brings out a humorously fun track and video dedicated to those famous segments on The Maury Show.  Check out That's a Man Maury...

Ruler - Rainer, featuring MaƩday

Here's a bass-heavy dance track that reminds me a lot of Disclosure.  Check it out...

Same Girl - Mark Johns

Here's a sultry new track by singer Mark Johns.  The tune was produced by Skrillex and is smooth as ice and as fiery as well, fire.  Check out Same Girl...

Well, compared to last week, this week's new entries into the music world are not as plentiful (I only bookmarked 8..a small number for me!), but these five are sure to be in my listening playlist for a long time to come.  Stay tuned for more new music on John's Music World.

Song of the Day - Sit Next to Me - Foster the People

I have to admit that the band Foster the People had never entered into my radar until earlier this year with the release of S.H.C., from their newly released third album Sacred Hearts Club.  I absolutely love the up tempo sound of that one and this, more mid tempo piece of ear candy.  Check out Sit Next to Me while I go and check out some more of their album...
