It's been a really long time since I've posted anything J-Lo on here. Here's a classic dance floor jam that was the beginning of the second coming of Miss Jennifer. Check out On the Floor...
I bookmarked an unusually high number of new music tunes this week, including Justin Timberlake's new set, Man of the Woods. Though I saved so many tunes, I actually struggled to find five I wanted to feature. With the exception of the first three on this week's list, I could have highlighted any of the honorable mentions and still been happy with my choices. Check it out...
Pray For Me - The Weeknd, Kendrick Lamar
Pray For Me is a hot, hypnotic new collaboration featuring two of today's hottest R&B/rap stars. The song, from the soundtrack to the upcoming Marvel feature film, Black Panther, is instantly likable as The Weekend and Kendrick Lamar show off their best. Check out Pray For Me...
Us - Jennifer Lopez, Skrillex, Poo Bear
After what seems like an awfully long hiatus, J-Lo makes her return to the music scene with a brand new collaborative effort with Skrillex and Poo Bear. Us is a Latin-infused dance number that the singer confirmed at the Super Saturday Night show in Minneapolis was about herself and current beau Alex Rodriguez. Nice track! Check out Us...
Savior - Iggy Azalea, Quavo
Another singer who seems to have taken quite a sabbatical from music is back with a more serious, yet nicely rhythmic tune. Iggy Azalea returns to center stage with a deeply personal tune written at a tough period in the singer's life.
I'd had a big breakup, and my career wasn't going well, and I sort of found myself in this space where everything that I was used to, just my day to day routine, had abruptly stopped. And I just didn't know how to get my life back together, or what my life looked like with all of these changes, and how to get a routine going again, and just how to get my happiness back and feeling normal.
Savior features fellow rapper Quavo and though it's a bit more of a serious tone than we're used to, it's got a really nice groove and with Quavo's vocals, it really works. Check out Savior...
Proud of Me - Mahalia, Little Simz
Up and coming R&B singer Mahalia has come out with an ear-pleasing, mid-tempo gem featuring MC extraordinaire Little Simz. Check out Proud of Me...
Lifted - Allie X, Banx & Ranx
Canadian singer Allie X has teamed up with production duo Banx & Ranx for this island-flavored jam that will be getting a lot of listens during my music time, for sure. Check out Lifted...
And here are those honorable mentions I mentioned...
Here's a fun one that I had forgotten about until I heard it yesterday. Oh I totally miss songs like these...pumping, thumping beats, catchy chorus and some good ole Pitbull! Check out Dance Again...
Friday is here, finally, and I think it's about time to get the party started. Here's one of my all time favorite party tunes, of which J-Lo has quite a few. Check out Let's Get Loud...
I mentioned this song the other night, as it samples Kaoma's Lambada, but in such a unique and steamy way. Back in 2011, when J-Lo's On the Floor came out, it was the beginning of the singer's renaissance after a long hiatus from the music scene. With a little help from at that time one of the hottest new artists of the day, a rapper by the name of Pitbull, this one soared to the top and smoked up dance floors everywhere. It's the kind of song that still gets em' going and is a perfect summer jam for the day...
The other night I was in a club and Jennifer Lopez' hot summer jam On the Floor came on the loudspeakers, and as it did my pal Ken uttered the word Lambada. Though I knew exactly what he was talking about, I had seemed to have completely forgotten that she masterfully sampled and sped up the music from the original Lambada in her hit. I got to thinking that I haven't heard that one in ages, and so thus, here it is. Though I do love J-Lo's tune, I love this one just as much. Released in 1989, this musical accompaniment to the dance of the same name is melodious and fun, and I love the voice of the singer and the fact that it's sung in Portuguese. So if you were around back then, and perhaps even saw the movie, come and re-live a fond memory with me as you listen to Lambada...
Nobody knows what I'm feeling inside I find it so stupid so why should I hide That I, love to make love to you baby
Back in 2012, the dynamic duo of Jennifer Lopez and Pitbull reunited in the studio to make this summer jam for J-Lo's Greatest Hits set with the same name. The song is pure perfection, with pleasant, singable verses set to a melodic beat and the big chorus, which is just as sweet and danceable. Click play below and then go out and dance...again!
