The Beautiful & Damned - G-Eazy, Zoe Nash
Maybe it's my age, but I really don't find a lot to like about today's hip hop or rap music, whatever it's called these days, but here's one I can sink my teeth into. I know why, too. It's not the rap part of this tune that makes me move when I listen, but the raspy vocals of one Ms. Zoe Nash, whose part gives the track a really nice groove. Check out The Beautiful & Damned...

Up All Night - Beck
Oh man, I used to love Beck. I absolutely wore out his 1996 record Odelay, but he completely fell off my radar since then. When I saw this tune listed on Spotify's New Music Fridays, I was intrigued that he was still making music and checked it out. Bottom line...he's still got it. This one's catchy and pleasant and he just might make me a fan again. Check out Up All Night...
Sometimes, like this week, it's difficult to come up with only five new songs to whet your appetites, so in addition to these great tracks, here are some other notable new releases:
Anybody remember Swedish singer Tove Lo? Well, she struck it big here in the States a couple of years ago with the retro and ethereal Habits. Well, you're about to get another taste of her, though this time the music is very different. Cool Girl is a fun, dancey tune that fits more into the club scene than anything else and it is hot! Check this one out...
It's Saturday, January 3rd...three days into the new year and I'm still trying to sort myself out. Like most people, I look at the new year as a new beginning, a chance to right the wrongs and improve myself, but there's one sneaky thing that gets the best of all of us and that's habits. We've all got our habits, don't we, and they're always so hard to break, but in order to make any sot of real change, sometimes it's necessary to break old habits.
Whenever I'm off from work and I actually have the time to do the things I should do, I fall into the same old habits I always do and I never get things done. So, being that I have two more days to break those habits (see Auto-correcting Humanity? - Yeah!), I'm gonna listen to this song and go for it. Wish me luck!
