Hello and welcome again to my weekly New Music Fridays post, where I put the spotlight on my picks for the best new music of the week. There were a lot of songs I bookmarked this week and it was hard to narrow it down to just five, but here goes...
In My Blood/Lost In Japan - Shawn Mendes
Shawn Mendes fans were certainly happy this Friday with the release of two brand new songs, In My Blood and Lost In Japan. Both songs continue to show that this young talent is just that...a talent. The first one's got that raw, emotional feel and is instantly likable, while the second is a little more upbeat and sweet! Check out both songs right here...
Flames - David Guetta and Sia
It's been awhile since David Guetta and Sia have gotten together to make some music, and boy did they make a winner this time. Like their previous big hit, Titanium, this one's inspirational and though not as clubby as the former, it's got a really nice groove. Check out Flames...
Say Amen (Saturday Night) - Panic at the Disco
I never thought I would spotlight a Panic at the Disco song on this blog. They're really just not my thing, but this song is just powerfully fun, and so is the video. Check out Say Amen (Saturday Night)...
Nirvana - INNA
I've been a big fan of Romanian singer INNA since her 2010 tropical house tune Sun Is Up. Well, she's got a new album and the title cut has just been released as a single. It is hot! Check out Nirvana...
As I mentioned earlier, there were lots of nice new tunes this week. Here are my honorable mentions, most of whom almost made the cut above. Check them out below and I will see you in a couple of weeks as I will be on vacay...
Psychopath - Charlotte Lawrence, Nina Nesbitt, Sasha Sloan
Here's a little bit of neo-disco for your Hump Day. This one by EDM artist NVDES is no doubt inspired by the then neo-disco sounds of Stardust's 1998 smash Music Sounds Better With You. Check out Everyday...
At first I thought this week's picks were going to be tough to choose. In fact, I wasn't even sure if I was going to find five new tracks to highlight, but after a second and a third listen, the songs from this week;s offerings started to seep in and then I had trouble dwindling it down to five. Check it out...
burn - Billie Eilish
You may remember singer Billie Eilish from her sexy, sultry tune, Bellyache. Well she's back with a brand new scorcher and it's even sexier than her previous hit. Check out burn...
Then - Ann Marie
British songstress Ann Marie offers up one of the hottest songs of the season, a sultry break-up song that just makes you want to sing along strong! Check out Then...
The Feeling - John Lindahl, feat. Logic
John Lindahl is a young, twenty-something singer who's just getting out on his own after guesting on a couple of tunes by Logic. In advance of his first EP, Changes, Lindhal has put out a fast and frenzied shot of quick-paced neo-disco. If you close your eyes and hear his voice, you'd swear you were somewhere back in the 70's. Check out The Feeling...
Walls - NVDES
I tell ya, I am really digging the sounds of LA-based production team NVDES. Seemingly every tune they put out ends up on my Current playlist and this one will be no different. Yet another bit of neo-disco, this one makes you make all the funky moves you used to make as a kid, whether it was to something by Earth, Wind & Fire or even more recently Stardust's Music Sounds Better With You, from which I believe this tune is sampled. Check out the groovy Walls...
Sirens - Gold Fir
Either I'm going crazy or there's another new wave of neo-disco coming at us in droves. The third such tune to revive some of the sounds of the 70's is this soulful jam by British duo Gold Fir. Check out another awesome, funky track, Sirens...
So there you go, five hot new tracks to whet your appetite for hot new music. As always, there's always more to check out, so take a look at some very honorable mentions bubbling just under the surface of my top five this week:

Out of My Head - Charli XCX, feat. Tove Lo, ALMA
I've wanted to like British songstress Charli XCX for a long time now, but until now I haven't heard anything stellar enough from her to sink my teeth into. Again, till now. This new one, featuring Tove Lo and ALMA is a pleasant, catchy song I can definitely wrap my ears around. Check out Out of My Head...
Untouchable - Eminem
Though Eminem is admittedly a legend and his legions of fans can argue all day which of his tracks they like best, I've never really liked his stuff. Well Em is back with some brand new stuff. First it was the tender Walk On Water with Beyoncé a couple of weeks ago and this week finds him bringing some old school sounds to some very current lyrics. Check out Untouchable...
Never Be the Same - Camila Cabello
Former Fifth Harmony singer Camila Cabello has had a very productive 2017. With a couple of hot singles previewing her just-released debut solo effort, Cabello's name has no doubt catapulted into a lot of music lovers' collective minds and her popularity will only continue to grow with tunes like this one. Here's the sweet Never be the Same...
I Could Always - Le Youth, feat. MNDR
Here's a nice, disco-ish tune from producers Le Youth and MNDR. Check out I Could Always...
Everyday - NVDES
...and speaking of neo-disco, here's a funked up track by LA-based production team known as NVDES. With several nice tunes under their belt already, this is an artist that will be on my radar for a long time to come. Check out Everyday...
Well, that's a wrap for the week. Be sure to stay tuned to John's Music World's New Music Fridays coming soon.
Hello and welcome once again to John's Music World's New Music Fridays. Aside from the big release of Taylor Swift's Reputation, we've got some great new tracks for you to enjoy. Check it out...
Walk On Water - Eminem, with Beyoncé
Surely one of the most talked-about new tunes of the week is this ballad featuring two of the most popular artists of our time. The tune, featuring Bey on vocals at the chorus (I walk on water, but I ain't no Jesus) is a new direction for the 45 year old Em, who reflects on his own humanity. The rapper premiered the track live at last night's MTV EMA's, and you can check out the vocal right here...
D.Y.T. (Do Your Thing) - NVDES, REMMI
In advance of their second offering, L.A.-based production group NVDES introduces this fast and funky jam. Check out Do Your Thing...
Trouble In the Streets - BC Unidos, with Carly Rae Jepson
I love how Carly Rae Jepson has managed to stay relevant since her out of this world smash Call Me, Maybe. The odds were definitely against her after that high-charting debut, and she hasn't exactly turned out to be a superstar, yet she hasn't really faltered either. Her latest collaboration with Swedish production duo BC Unidos is a retro sounding, frenzied and fun ditty. Check out Trouble In the Streets...
Small Talk - Fake Pictures, Tiger Park
Here's one of those songs that's hard to find much information on (not even an audio track), but it's definitely worth a spotlight. This dance jam has a funky, bass-y sound that;s simply hella cool! Check it out on Spotify.
Boa Me - Fuse ODG, Ed Sheeran, Mugeez
Ed Sheer an guest stars on this brand new calypso track by rapper Fuse ODG and it works! Ceck out the ear-pleasing, easy breezy Boa Me...
