Hump Day Song of the Day - Roses - The Chainsmokers

Image result for roses the chainsmokers
It's been a really long time since I've posted anything Chainsmokers.  Honestly it's because I'm not digging them like I used to (insert sad face emoji here!).  Anyway, here's a hot one from their earlier, better days...

Song of the Day - This Feeling - The Chainsmokers, Kelsea Ballerini

Image result for this feeling the chainsmokers

This Feeling is one of the few songs on The Chainsmokers' latest album, Sick Boy, that sounds like The Chainsmokers of old.  Featuring the vocals of one Kelsea Ballerini, This Feeling is a power ballad that's very reminiscent of the boys' earlier hits like Roses, All We Know and Paris.  Check out The Feeling...

New Music Fridays, September 21st, 2018

At first, I didn't think there would be enough new songs worthy of a spotlight here to make five, but as I re-listened to this week's new music tracks I found that there were, only not my usual dance fare.  Check out this week's new music tracks...

Zero - Imagine Dragons

Rockers Imagine Dragons have released a very likable song from the closing credits of the upcoming Disney film Ralph Breaks the Internet.  Check out the cool lyric video for Zero...

Lento - Rudy Mancuso

Though I've never heard of actor, musician and Internet personality Rudy Mancuso, he's apparently pretty popular.  The 26 year-old has a new song and video out that's pretty smooth, featuring lento, or slow, Latin/Brazilian sounds, and the video is pretty entertaining, too!  Check out Lento...

Imaginary Friend - MO

I am loving everything Danish singer/songwriter MO does, and this one's a little more sultry than what she usually puts out, but it's really good, nonetheless.  Check out Imaginary Friend...

Naturally Pretty Girls - Elle King

Singer Elle King is really coming into a steady roll with her newest, the follow-up to the sassy Shame.   Here she uses her words to show us just what she thinks of Naturally Pretty Girls.  Check it out...

Over You - Macy Gray

I've always loved Macy Gray, so I was very excited to see she put out a new album, and on this song she sounds just as good as ever.  Unfortunately there is not even a lyric video for the tune, but you can check it out on Spotify.

Here are this week's honorable mentions...

Bottled Up - Dinah Jane, Ty Dolla $ign, Mark E. Bassy
This Feeling - The Chainsmokers, Kelsea Ballerini
Let You Love Me - Rita Ora
Roll With Me - Bantu, Jonas Blue, Shungudzo, ZieZie
Head Above Water - Avril Lavigne
Venice Bitch - Lana Del Ray
Back Together - Loote
Punches - Noah Cyrus, LP
If I'm Gone Tomorrow (It's Because of Aliens) - MUNYA

New Music Fridays, March 16th, 2018

Hello and welcome once again to New Music Fridays, even though it's Monday, lol.  I bookmarked a lot of songs this week, and it was hard to cram it down to just five, but here goes...

Everybody Hates Me - The Chainsmokers

Okay, well any new Chainsmokers' tune will almost always get attention from me.  They've been that high on my list as long as they've been around.  This time, though, I'm not a huge fan.  The boys newest track picks up on the same theme as their last two singles, Sick Boy and You Owe Me...no romantic happiness, no sweetness, just some more self-deprecating whining.  The only bright spot is that this one does carry a twinge of EDM.  Check it out and see...

Freaky Friday - Lil Dicky, Chris Brown

I have to admit that I never heard of Lil Dicky before.  Apparently he's a 30 year old comedian/rapper and he just put out his first song in over three years with R&B bad boy Chris Brown...and I love it!  The song takes its' name from the famous movie and the vid for the tune shows the two artists switching spots.  Pretty good!  Oh, and check out some of the cameos, too!  Check out Freaky Friday...

Done For Me - Charlie Puth, Kehlani

Charlie Puth follows up his highly successful, and funky, How Long with a nice collaboration featuring the likes of Oakland-based songstress Kehlani.  This one's as funky as the former, and it's full of pop smoothness, as well.  Check out Done For Me...

Answerphone - Banx & Ranx, Ella Eyre, Yxng Bane

Though there are some big names in this week's new music tracks, they aren't necessarily the best of the best.  Banx & Ranx's newest is nothing but a hip shakin' slice of pure dance pleasure.  Check out Answerphone...

Remind Me to Forget - Kygo, Miguel

Oh, two of my favorite artists together on one track!  R&B singer Miguel's voice lends itself wonderfully to Kygo's beats.  Awesome!

All in all, this was a really nice week in new music, not only the ones featured here, but for these honorable mentions, as well:

Alone - Halsey, Big Sean
Let It Be - Hayley Kyoko
Over You - Kasbo, Frida Sundemo
Alien - Sabrina Carpenter, Jonas Blue
Be Like You - Whethan, Broods
Over My Head - Echosmith
Strawberries & Cigarettes - Troye Sivan

New Music Fridays, February 16th, 2018 - Five Hot New Tracks

It's President's Week, and there's lots of good new stuff this week to be heard.  Check out the best of this week's new music tracks...

You Owe Me - The Chainsmokers

Seemingly former EDM masters The Chainsmokers continue where they left off on their last single, Sick Boy, with a more alternative sound that's more down tempo than what we're used to from the duo...and it works.  Check out some vampirish terror in the accompanying video for You Owe Me...

Mad Love - Sean Paul, David Guetta, Becky G

One of my favorite tunes of the week is this bouncy lil piece of dance floor heaven featuring the likes of Sean Paul, Becky G and David Guetta.  Sean and Becky's unique island vocals play a perfect complement to Guetta's big beats.  Check out Mad Love...

Run For Your Life - K. Flay

I first discovered rock songstress K. Flay with her badass tune Blood In the Cut early last year and I've been waiting for something new from her ever since.  Well, Flay has just released a new tune from the soundtrack to the upcoming film Tomb Raider and it's the same nice, high energy rock and roll that made me love her in the first place.  Check out Run For Your Life...

1,2,3 - Sofia Reyes, featuring Jason Derulo, De La Ghetto

Twenty-two year old Latin Grammy nominee singer Sofia Reyes teams up with Jason Derulo and De La Ghetto on this ultra-catchy Spanglish jam, featuring head-bopping Latin beats, funky melodies and everything in between.  Hot song!  Check out 1,2,3...

Deep Breaths - Lookas, Cal

All of the pieces I've seen about this tune have included the word 'summer' and for good reason.  Yes, this dance jam has all of the markings of a hot summer jam, catchy tropical beats and some nice vocals by singer Cal.  Miami producer Lookas has really scored with this one!  Ooh if only it were closer to summer.  Here's Deep Breaths...

So there you go, five really hot new tracks to get you going this President's Week.  Of course, these five tunes aren't the only ones worth noting from this week's crop of new music.  Here are some honorable mentions you might want to check out, as well:

Getting Over You - Lauv
Remember - Youngr
I Heard You Got Too Litt Last Night - SAINt JHN
Heart to Break - Kim Petras
Wonderchild - Hot Shade, Christian Walz
Bad 2 Good - Aaron Carter
Look Back - Diplo, DRAM

Song of the Day - Sick Boy The Chainsmokers

Image result for sick boy the chainsmokers

Good morning and Happy Monday!  As featured on January 19th's New Music Fridays, here's The Chainsmoker's new tune, a sort of darkish tune when compared to what these guys have put out before.  The song has grown on me, though!  Check out Sick Boy...

New Music Fridays, January 19th, 2018 - New Kylie, Chainsmokers and More

Oh man, there were a lot of new songs released this past week!  I spent no less than two hours combing through all the new music tracks on Spotify's New Music Fridays.  Surprisingly, there weren't too many tunes I bookmarked, but the ones I did will be on my playlist for a long time, I am sure.  Exciting new stuff here, folks especially the debut of Kylie Monogue's Dancing and new stuff by Troye Sivan and The Chainsmokers, among others.  So let's get right to it...

Dancing - Kylie Minogue

After what seemed like an eternity, Aussie superstar Kylie Minogue is back with a brand new song from a forthcoming album called Golden.  The song is not as immediately memorable as the debut to her last album, Kiss Me Once's Into the Blue, but the mid-tempo tune is Kylie through and through nonetheless.  Check out Dancing...

Sick Boy - The Chainsmokers

After what seemed like a long hiatus from music, The Chainsmokers are back with a darker, more serious sound.  Sick Boy is eliciting some unfavorable reviews from critics, and I can understand why, but to a point.  No, this new track isn't fun at all, and its dramatic undertones might disappoint some fans, but to me it just might attract them some new ones.  I'll let you decide...

The Good Side - Troye Sivan

A week after releasing My My My! in advance of his new album, Troye Sivan put out a new track, The Good Side.  This one's more like the stuff on his Blue Neighborhood album, and possibly an apologetic nod to a former lover mentioned on that album.  The ballad is straightforward and honest, and a perfect second release for Sivan.  Check him out performing the song on SNL this week...

These Days - Rudimental, Macklemore, Jess Glynne, Dan Caplen

British band Rudimental has released a new, beautiful and inspiring track.  These Days features fellow Brits Jess Glynne and Dan Caplen and Seattle-based rapper Macklemore.  Check out this beautiful song...

Heaven's Gate - Burna Boy, Lily Allen

Nigerian rapper Burna Boy is just beginning to become internationally known.  After appearing on Fall Out Boy's Sunshine Riptide, the performer has just released his own single.  Heaven's Gate features Lily Allen on vocals, and her unique voice blends well with this up tempo, island rap jam.  Check out the very cool Heaven's Gate...

With the unusually high number of new music releases this week, of course there's got to be some honorable mentions.  Check out these noteworthy new tunes...

Supplies - Justin Timberlake
Ignore Me - Betty Who
No Drama - Tinashe, Offset
Placebo - Devin Dawson
Human - Kimbra

Hump Day Song of the Day - Waterbed - The Chainsmokers

Image result for waterbed the chainsmokers

Okay, just one more Chainsmoker's song!  Really, when you continue to listen to the music of an artist after seeing them live, then you know it's a good thing.  Here's an oldie for them, but a very fun one, and perfect for Hump Day!  Enjoy...

Song of the Day - Break Up Every Night - The Chainsmokers

Image result for break up every night

This new tune from The Chainsmokers' Memories...Do Not Open album was an early crowd pleaser at last night's show at Forest Hills.  Little did I realize before I journeyed to Queens and this nice little outdoor venue in the shadow of New York City that I would be attending my first EDM concert. EDM is a relatively new acronym that's become big with the kiddies these days.  It stands for Electronic Dance Music, and although the music itself is not so unique that it differentiates itself from what I've known as simply electronica, it does have a certain uniqueness, if that makes any sense.

Image may contain: 2 people, people smiling, crowd, outdoor and closeup

I'd never thought of The Chainsmokers as an EDM artist, but I was wrong.  I did catch their wave from the early days and had always thought of them as simply dance artists, and very good ones at that, although lately they've become a bit pop.  The set they played last night definintely fit into the EDM category, with crazy, sometimes dissonant electronic beats, and the entire audience, rather than dancing, was jumping up and down with their hands in the air...not exactly my kind of dancing, though I found myself doing the same thing at times simply because the music called for it.

In all, The Chainsmokers were pretty entertaining.  Their 90 minute-plus set of wild electronica beats was peppered with their hits old and new, with Paris, Closer, and Something Just Like This causing mass singalongs, and tunes like Roses and Don't Bring Me Down getting everybody up and dancing (well, jumping, lol).  Anyway, here's a recent clip of our Song of the Day from a Saturday Night Live appearance...

And here's how me and my pal Kristen felt afterwards...

Flashback Friday Song of the Day - Roses - The Chainsmokers, ft. Rozes

Image result for roses the chainsmokers

Tonight's the night!  I've been looking forward to this show for a long, long time, and it's finally
here.  Here's the song that started it all for me with these fantastic musicians known as The Chainsmokers.  Check out Roses...

Song of the Day - Gold - Kiiara

Image result for gold kiiara

I mentioned yesterday that I will be checking out The Chainsmokers when they come to town on Friday, and they're not the only act I'm excited about seeing.  Young Illinoisan singer/songwriter Kiiara will be one of the opening acts to the show, and although she's got some good stuff out there, this is the song of hers you might just know.  I've listened to it a million times and I still can't tell you what the heck she's saying, but it's pretty damned hypnotic nonetheless.  Check out Gold...

Song of the Day - Paris - The Chainsmokers

Image result for paris the chainsmokers

I am very excited today, because in just five days I will be venturing to Forest Hills Stadium to checkout The Chansmokers on their Memories...Do Not Open Tour.  I've been following these guys for awhile now and I waited with great anticipation for their debut full length studio album, which is quality music through and through.  Check out one of their recent big hits and stay tuned for more Chainsmokers...

Song of the Day - Something Just Like This - The Chainsmokers & Coldplay

Image result for something just like this

Oh man, The Chainsmokers are simply on fire these days.  With a new album and a seemingly endless presence on the charts over the past few months, these guys are surely one of the top musical acts today!  Here's their latest, along with supergroup Coldplay, on a tender yet dancey new jam...

Song of the Day - Paris - The Chainsmokers

Image result for paris the chainsmokers

Good morning and Happy Saturday!  Here's The Chainsmokers' latest, and one of their best yet.  The sweet, uncredited female voice on the track belongs to one Elizabeth Warren, who co-wrote the duo's Don't Let Me Down.  Great song, great lyrics, very pleasing video.  Check out Paris...

Song of the Day - Don't Let Me Down - The Chainsmokers, featuring Daya

Image result for chainsmokers concert

Two days ago I scored tickets to see The Chainsmokers on their Memories Tour 2017 and I couldn't be more excited.  They have yet to create a tune that I haven't loved and I believe that between now and June 9th, when I see them at Forest Hills Stadium in New York, there'll be a whole new album. Yaysies!  Oh, and their special guest will be the lovely and talented Ms. Kiiara.  Even cooler! Here's one of my favorite Chainsokers' tunes...

Song of the Day - Good Intentions - The Chainsmokers, feat. BullySongs

Image result for good intentions the chainsmokers

I don't think The Chainsmokers have made one song I haven't loved.  Here's an 'oldie' of theirs, a really catchy track kinda sorta reminiscent of something Avicii or even Calvin Harris might do. Here's Good Intentions...

Song of the Day - A-YO - Lady Gaga

Image result for a-yo lady gaga

Here's the latest song to be released from Gaga's Joanne, due out tomorrow, and it's an upbeat and catchy, country-twinged song.  She actually tweeted it to EDM hitmakers The Chainsmokers on Tuesday in response to a comment by the duo's Alex Pall, who had said in an interview that Gaga's first single from the album, Perfect Illusion, "well, sucks."

#AYO @TheChainsmokers maybe u guys'll like this 1 better #NowPlaying Apple: http://smarturl.it/A-YO.ap Spotify: http://smarturl.it/A-YO.sp

Well, I like this one better, for sure!  Check out A-YO...

Song of the Day - Sit Still. Look Pretty - Daya

Image result for sit still look pretty

You've probably already been exposed to Pittsburgh native Daya either through her own 2015 smash, Hideaway, or her vocals on The Chainsmokers' intoxicating Don't Let Me Down.  Well, the talented singer/songwriter has just released her debut album, Sit Still, Look Pretty, and the title cut is pretty darned catchy.  Check it out...

Song of the Day - Closer - The Chainsmokers, featuring Halsey

Now that September is here, it's time to get back to the present and one of my favorite current acts.  I love just about everything The Chainsmokers have done so far, and this one is simply the bomb! Check out Closer...
