I am just now realizing how long it's been since I've posted anything Kylie Minogue. Where, oh where has she been? Anyway, here's a classic from almost twenty years ago. The video's become a bit fuzzy, but it's the music that counts anyway, right? Check out Can't Get You Outta My Head...
I'm a little late today, but you know what they say... Had a lot of time in my car the past 24 hours and I listened to a lot of mah divas. Here's Kylie with a classic....
Well, I am off! Jetting off to Europe today and I won't be back for a couple of weeks, so this will probably be the last Song of the Day post for awhile. So I will say goodbye as I head off Into the Blue...
With this, the second week of Pride Month, the celebrations are in full swing this weekend, with events in Long Beach, Long Island, Washington DC, Albany, Boston, Baltimore and so many others. Here's a classic from an icon in the community, the one and only Kylie Monogue with All the Lovers...
Hey guys, Kylie Minogue's got a brand new album out, Golden, which I'll be taking a closer look at soon enough. In the meantime, here's one of her best...
You've got to feel it, see it, know how much you need it
What's the point in living if you don't take a chance?
You've got to use it, lose it, know the chance to do it
What's the point in living if you don't wanna dance?
Some may see Kylie Minogue's music as mindless dance stuff, but I can tell you as a fan that many of her songs carry a lot of inspiration, hope and lessons in life. Such is the case with today's Song of the Day. Her Better Than Today, off the Aphrodite album, is the perfect song for this President's Day. We're all hoping that tomorrow is going to be better than today, both personally and politically. What those kids in Florida are doing are exactly what Kylie's talking about, taking a chance, doing something about trying to make things better. It's all something we should do, too! Here's Better Than Today...
Good morning and Happy Saturday! Just a couple of days ago, Kylie Minogue released the video for her new song Dancing and it's as appealing as the tune. Check out Dancing...
Oh man, there were a lot of new songs released this past week! I spent no less than two hours combing through all the new music tracks on Spotify's New Music Fridays. Surprisingly, there weren't too many tunes I bookmarked, but the ones I did will be on my playlist for a long time, I am sure. Exciting new stuff here, folks especially the debut of Kylie Monogue's Dancing and new stuff by Troye Sivan and The Chainsmokers, among others. So let's get right to it...
Dancing - Kylie Minogue
After what seemed like an eternity, Aussie superstar Kylie Minogue is back with a brand new song from a forthcoming album called Golden. The song is not as immediately memorable as the debut to her last album, Kiss Me Once's Into the Blue, but the mid-tempo tune is Kylie through and through nonetheless. Check out Dancing...
Sick Boy - The Chainsmokers
After what seemed like a long hiatus from music, The Chainsmokers are back with a darker, more serious sound. Sick Boy is eliciting some unfavorable reviews from critics, and I can understand why, but to a point. No, this new track isn't fun at all, and its dramatic undertones might disappoint some fans, but to me it just might attract them some new ones. I'll let you decide...
The Good Side - Troye Sivan
A week after releasing My My My! in advance of his new album, Troye Sivan put out a new track, The Good Side. This one's more like the stuff on his Blue Neighborhood album, and possibly an apologetic nod to a former lover mentioned on that album. The ballad is straightforward and honest, and a perfect second release for Sivan. Check him out performing the song on SNL this week...
These Days - Rudimental, Macklemore, Jess Glynne, Dan Caplen
British band Rudimental has released a new, beautiful and inspiring track. These Days features fellow Brits Jess Glynne and Dan Caplen and Seattle-based rapper Macklemore. Check out this beautiful song...
Heaven's Gate - Burna Boy, Lily Allen
Nigerian rapper Burna Boy is just beginning to become internationally known. After appearing on Fall Out Boy's Sunshine Riptide, the performer has just released his own single. Heaven's Gate features Lily Allen on vocals, and her unique voice blends well with this up tempo, island rap jam. Check out the very cool Heaven's Gate...
With the unusually high number of new music releases this week, of course there's got to be some honorable mentions. Check out these noteworthy new tunes...
I know, I know, I just posted Kylie on Friday. Well I love Kylie, and she kept me rocking in my car on my way home from a weekend camping in Pennsylvania. This one, from her 2007 X album (my favorite!), is total Kylie...sultry, sexy and oh so delicious! Check out the burlesque-ish Two Hearts...
Good morning and Happy Monday from Cincinnati, Ohio. We're on the first day of our Roller Coaster Road Trip 2017 and I'll be doing my best to keep Song of the Day going, and probably with tunes we've been listening to in the car. First up is yet another artist who's been long absent from the new music scene and that is Ms. Kylie. Here's the opening track to her 2010 Aphrodite album.
Check out All the Lovers and then go on a have a lovely day...
Though the album, Fever, was Kylie Minogue's 8th overall studio album back in 2001, it was her very first major breakthrough here in the United States. The album spawned four singles, beginning with this mid-tempo dance smash, but really the entire album was full of gems and made me a Kylie fan forever! So click play below and get your weekend started right...
Virtually any Kylie Minogue song is a perfect fit for Pride Month and one of her most recent singles is also one of my favorites. Into the Blue was the lead single off of her 2014 Kiss Me Once and it is as much of an anthem as anything she's ever done. Check it out...
Here's three-plus minutes of gender-bending neo-disco fun with Aussie recording artist Nervo, with a little star power thrown into the mix. Kylie Monogue and Jake Shears lend their pipes and Nile Rodgers his guitar in this tune from Nervo's debut album, Collateral. Check out The Other Boys...
In case you haven't heard, Australian dance goddess Kylie Minogue released her first ever Christmas album just a little over a month ago. Like most other Christmas albums, this one's got new takes on old standards (including The Waitresses' Christmas Wrapping), but she's written and performed several new tunes just for this album. One of these, the second single released off of Kylie Christmas, is a discoey duet with sister Dannii and I'm just loving it. Check out 100 Degrees...
When I've got my back up against the wall Don't need no one to rescue me Cause I ain't waiting up for no miracle Yeah tonight I'm running free Into the blue...
Here's the best cut from Kylie's latest album, Kiss Me Once. Into the Blue fast became one of my favorite tunes of hers when it was released just a few months ago. Great, uplifting lyrics that make ya feel good. Enjoy your Tuesday...
And everything went from wrong to right And the stars came out, filled up the sky The music you were plaing really blew my mind It was love, at first sight
Cause baby when I heard you For the first time I knew We were meant to be as one
Thirteen years ago yesterday, June 10th, 2002, Kylie Minogue released her third single from her breakout Fever album. The song was called Love At First Sight and it followed the smashes Can't Get You Out of My Head and In Your Eyes and solidified the Aussie's bona fide explosion on to the dance music scene here in the U.S. Fever was my first Kylie album, and I've been following her faithfully ever since. This tune certainly fills the bill as a summer jam, and so...
Well, this is it...my last Song of the Day post for a couple of weeks. Today I am heading off to Europe for a 12-day tour with my school and so for now, I'll leave you with this new one by Giorgio Moroder and Kylie Minogue, because I'm so feeling right here, right now....Arrivederci!
