Taking a step away from my COVID19 Quarantine Playlist to share this beautiful, multi-dimensional song. It's really worth a listen for the melancholic lows and the uplifting highs. It's my favorite type of song. Here's Galantis...
I know things have been crazy these past few weeks and I think it's going to get even crazier in the coming weeks. Though not everyone is taking this coronavirus seriously enough, there are plenty of others who are taking it too seriously. As for me, I'm just going to go with the flow, stay as safe as I can, and have a little faith that in the end its all going to be alright. Fingers crossed!
Happy Monday all! December's going to be a short month, work-wise, for many of us, and so why not start the week off inspired with this awesome tune. Check out the wicked video for Orphans...
We've got an interesting collaboration on tap for today as Swedish production team Galantis teams up with the legendary Dolly Parton and Dutch rapper/singer Mr. Probz on this uplifting and light-hearted dance tune. Check out Faith...
For the first time in a long time, I've been relegated to listening to CD's in the car. You see, I've been driving a rental vehicle for the past few days and the bluetooth will not connect to my phone. So I went into my attic and dug through my old CD collection and have been listening to a lot of stuff I'd forgotten about. In the coming days and weeks, I'll be posting some of these newfound classics, beginning with this uplifting song by the late, great Luther Vandross. Here's Power of Love/Love Power...
Posting a song like this reinforces my doing this blog, as I love to share great music that you might not really catch anywhere else. Big Wild is an artist with a gift for catchy, groovy, and little dance/chill vibe up in there. No Words was not a single of his album, Superdream, but it is one great song. It's very chill, very toe-tappy, and the crescendo is downright spiritual! Here's No Words...
I've been meaning to post this one for awhile now. It's the first in a long time for Natasha Bedingfield...nine years to be exact, and from beginning to end, this one's got that same inspirational feel to it that she's known for and that I love so much. Here's Kick It...
Happy Pride Month! Today is the first day in a month that celebrates people everywhere, living their lives who they were meant to be, and regardless of what anyone else thinks. The event has become so mainstreamed these past couple of years because more and more people in this world don't really give a damn whether another person is gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, or whatever, and that's an awesome thing. Yet the struggle is not over! Still, there are those out there who feel we are an "abomination," and have no right to even exist. For that, we still need this month.
I first came out to my mother when I was around 20 years old, and I was lucky. During that first conversation, she reassured me that although she knew very little about things gay, she loved me above all else and she's never shown me otherwise. Others are not so lucky. Many children are ostracized by their own parents, kicked to the curb for being who they are, leaving them with no place to turn. LGBTQ youth have the highest rates of suicide of any other group. For this, we still need this month.
Public leaders still work to prevent LGBT people from being viewed as full citizens, looking to turn the clock backward to strip away all sorts of rights that everyone is given. Gay parents are being prevented from adopting children in all but thirteen states. Transgender people have been banned from military service. Even bakers who refuse to bake a cake for a gay wedding are backed by the law. All of these things need to change, and this is why we still need this month.
Today's song is the perfect opener for Pride Month. It's all about owning who you are and being proud of it. No one has the right to judge who you are, except maybe whatever higher power you believe in. So please click play below and check out an awesome tune, both musically and lyrically. And stay tuned for more songs throughout the month celebrating LGBT pride, as well as more dance rap tunes and whatever else I find worthy enough to share. In the meantime, here's Proud...
Here's a brand new, sweet soulful jam brought to you by Irish singer/songwriter RthAnne. Check out the heavenly vocal and instrumental stylings of Love Again...
A few years back, in 2013, Dutch deejay/producer Afrojack put out an epic album of dance gems of all sorts which I played out pretty much all that year and beyond. One of my favorite tracks off of Forget the World was his remix of a beautiful tune by LA-based singer/songwriter Wrabel. Check out the beautiful Ten Feet Tall...
Here's a recent discovery by new artist Big Wild, AKA Jackson Stell, whose debut album, Superdream, dropped just a few weeks ago. The tune 6's to 9's is a throwback, 70's-style, inspirationally groovy and oh so kinda dancey. I know I'll be keeping an ear out for this artist in the coming weeks. Check it out...
I'd mentioned here a couple of weeks ago that I have been spending a lot of time re-watching, re-enjoying MTV's The Real World. In addition to enjoying all of the fun memories of the show, I've been hearing a lot of great music that I had forgotten about.
The 90's were a great time for music in all sorts of genres, from grunge to Euro dance to alternative, rap/dance and so much more. The music of that time is so great I've decided to dedicate the entire month of February to it. We start with a one hit wonder from 1998, coming from a British deejay/performing artist named Sonique. The tune's got an inspirational feel to it and is one of my favorite songs of the 90's. Here's It Feels So Good...
There's something about this song that's just so likable to me. Between the African/Island-flavored rhythms and vocals and its beautiful message, to me it is one perfect song for utopia! Check out Rudimental and Toast To Our Differences...
Dutch deejay/producer Martin Garrix has teamed up with Philly native and subway singer turned pro Mike Yung for this uplifting tune that's already made waves across the globe. Check out Yung's beautiful, soulful voice as he inspires on Dreamer...
Two-time Grammy award-nominated singer Lauren Daigle's got a new song and it is da bomb! Reminiscent of the sounds of gospel, Daigle's beautiful voice gives me a nice feeling inside when I take a listen. You should too! Here's Look Up Child...
