Song of the Day - Borrowed Time - Wyclef Jean

Image result for borrowed time wyclef

In just a few days I've fallen in love with Wyclef's newest.  So beautiful!

Falling from space, sometimes I feel out of place
Words we can't take back, if I could I would erase
Do whatever it take, to show you I appreciate
Before the angel tells me that it's too late

High noon the guns are drawn, it's a battle for love
Stand on the side as she watch it goes down
When it seems like the end, that's when it all begins
As she opens the door and lets me in

We’re on borrowed time
Clock keeps ticking
Days keep passing
Oh we can’t waist no time
These are the days of lives
When we will fall
Just so we can rise
Just so we can rise

A Cinderella’s ball
Last call for alcohol
The saints marching in
While us sinners play the drums
When the shackles are broken
That’s when we all will run free
And we will no longer worship the beast

What once was built
I seen sadness destroy
But it make my faith stronger
I believe in the joy
And passion has kicked in
Like a thief in the night
And the touch feels like eternal life

We’re on borrowed time
Clock keeps ticking
Days keep passing
Oh we can’t waist no time
These are the days of lives
When we will fall
Just so we can rise
Just so we can rise

Uh huh, Ice-cubes in my drink, it’s a good day
Seen a drive by turn to love parade
Battleship turns to the love boat
Refugees found our home that we’re looking for
No more robberies
Everbody’s equal
Found the cure for the cancer
No more diseases
No bombs falling from the skyline
Peace, treaty, everybody co-sign
Colorblind, we all one people
One love, like a Mob Marley sequel
I’m sitting back listen to John Lennon
Imagined that it happened

We’re on borrowed time
Clock keeps ticking
Days keep passing
Oh we can’t waist no time
These are the days of lives
When we will fall
Just so we can rise
Just so we can rise

We’re on borrowed time

Song of the Day - Mr. Jones - Counting Crows

Image result for mr jones

I've been going through some older stuff in my iTunes lately, trying to recreate some of my favorite playlists on Spotify.  One of the tunes I came across last night was this one, an all time favorite from back in the early 90's.  Counting Crows' Mr. Jones is a classic and it sounds as good today as it did back then.  Enjoy...

Song of the Day - Generous - Olivia Holt

Image result for generous olivia holt

One of my picks for the hottest new tracks of the week comes from an unlikely source.  Marvel's Cloak & Dagger actress Olivia Holt dons a hotel maid's costume in this video for what turns out to be a very catchy pop tune.  Ooh, I am picking this one to be a big hit.  Check out Generous...

New Music Fridays, September 22nd, 2017 - An Awesome Week of New Music

Whoah, what a week in new music!  It's only been a little more than twenty four hours now, and I'm feeling a little overwhelmed digesting all of the great, noteworthy stuff that's new this week.  Which ones to share?  For what it's worth, here goes...

Good Old Days - Macklemore & Kesha

Indie turned mainstream rap artist Macklemore has dropped his own solo project without his partner in crime Ryan Lewis and the newest single off the set, Gemini, is a tender, sweet ballad featuring the newly respected, mature Kesha.  The song is radio friendly and has already caught quite the buzz, featuring in all of the major music magazines.  Check out the vintage-esque video set at a campground...

Sexy Dirty Love - Demi Lovato

Demi Lovato's got a brand new album coming out this week and she's dropped yet another sexy tune from the set that's also catching a lot of buzz.  This one is a lot more dance-floor friendly than her previous Sorry, Not Sorry, but still with a lot of rhythm and blues.  Great voice, sexy jam!  Take a listen to the track on Rolling Stone.

Starlight - Emeli Sandé

I love Emeli Sandé, but usually it's for the positivity and inspiration that she so often sings to.  Well now Ms. Sandé has dropped a surprise dance single from her forthcoming third studio album and it is awesome! With a nice groove and her smooth, ethereal vocals, this one is a winner.  R+Take a listen to Starlight...

Generous - Olivia Holt

Marvel's Cloak and Dagger actress Olivia Holt has turned singer with this new, irresistible, sexy finger snapper and toe tapper that I loved the very first time I heard it.  Such a fun tune, and video! Check it out...

Hot Damn - The Shadowboxers

The Shadowboxers are Justin Timberlake's newest discovery just dropped their newest single and it is hot.  The trio of Adam Hoffman, Matt Lipkins and Scott Tyler have been working with Timberlake all summer long and the results are amazing.  Hot Damn is definitely within the realm of JT's sound, fast moving and dancey rhythm and blues that is very radio friendly.  Take a listen to it on Just Jared, where the tune debuted on Thursday.

Deadly Valentine - Charlotte Gainsbourg

British and French actress and singer Charlotte Gainsbourg, whom I'd never heard of before today, has released a new tune from an upcoming album called Rest.  The track is described by Spin's Anna Gaca as "dreamy [and] danceable," and I couldn't agree more with that assessment.  The tune has a sort of strange, but funky bassline that's just immediately likable and the rest of it is, well, dreamy and danceable!  Check out the "offbeat" video to Deadly Valentine...

Borrowed Time - Wyclef Jean

Two of my favorite songs of all time, Gone Till November and Perfect Gentleman, are from former Fugees frontman Wyclef Jean.  Jean has been largely absent for the past several years, but that's about to change with his new Carnival III: The Fall and Rise of a Refugee, his latest album which just dropped on September 15th.  I gave this song an extra listen because it is Wyclef, and I'm actually glad I did.  The tune is a beautiful, socially conscious ballad that actually features sounds never heard before from the planet Jupiter, as recorded by NASA.  Pretty cool, huh?  It really is a beautiful song! Check it out...

Big Girls (Wiz Mix) - Salt n Pepa

Okay, so I can't find much on this freshly released track from Salt n Pepa, but I love it!  It's sounds like it could have been an early recording, a little more rappish than pop, and I can't tell, but I think the recording samples Run DMC somewhere in there.  Great tune!  Take a listen...

A Different Way - DJ Snake, featuring Lauv

I've been a fan of DJ Snake for a couple of years now, and his latest, A Different Way, only adds to my admiration of his work.  Ed Sheeran gets songwriting credits for the tune and smooth-voiced singer Lauv contributes the dramatic vocals.  Of course, it is a DJ Snake track, so it's gotta be danceable, and ooh, the dance sequences in the song are actually what make it for me.  Snake debuted the single in Paris atop the Arc de Triomphe...cool!  Check out A Different Way...

Okay, okay, I need to stop here.  You see, I told you there was a lot of great stuff this week, probably the most of any single week since I've been doing New Music Fridays.  On top of these nine great songs, there are some really great honorable mentions that you should check out as well.  Take a look...

Phases - ALMA, with French Montana
Again - Noah Cyrus, XXXTENTACION
Hillside Boys - Kim Petras
Week Without You - Miley Cyrus
Ain't Ready - Hoodie Allen
Don't Look Back In Anger - Portugal. The Man.
Lost in the Wild - Synead
Move You - Kelly Clarkson
Ready For It - Taylor Swift
Anything - All Tvvns

There's even more, so stay tuned to John's Music World Song of the Day or Spotify's New Music Fridays to check em out.

Song of the Day - Best Friend - Sofi Tukker, feat. NERVO, The Knocks, & Alisa Ueno

Image result for best friend sofi tucker
I am loving NY based duo Sofi Tukker more and more with each new release.  Here's their latest, a tune I highlighted in last week's New Music Fridays.  Best Friend is fast, frenzied, and oh so sexy!  I only wish there were a video for it.  Maybe when it comes out I'll feature it again.  For now, anyway, check it out...

Harry Styles' Stellar Solo Debut: A Track by Track Review

Image result for harry styles album cover

Sometimes great music comes to you from the most unexpected places.  When I think of One Direction, I am usually turned off.  Boy band.  Pop sugar.  Blech!  It's never been my thing.  That being said, I have been keeping an ear on the solo efforts of the band's members and for the most part I've been impressed.  Niall Haron's latest, Too Much to Ask, is a beautiful ballad, I love Liam Payne's work with Zedd on Get Low and his own Strip That Down, and yeah Luis Tomlinson's Back to You is pretty good, too! As for Zayn, for whatever reason I've just not found anything...yet...from his music that's called to me.  And then there's Harry Styles.

Gaining access to a wide variety of new music at an affordable price is the biggest benefit I've gotten from joining Spotify as a premium member, and when Harry's Sign of the Times, from his debut eponymous solo album came out, my interest was piqued.  Back in May, when the album was released, I checked it out...and absolutely loved it!

Harry Styles, the album, is a collection of ten tracks that are anything but pop sugar.  In fact, if I were to classify the album by genre, I would say it's a lot like a great 70's rock record.  The styles of the songs are varied, from upbeat to melancholy and everywhere in between.  There's not a song on the record I dislike, and throughout the life of the album, I've been turning people on to it with good results.

With the U.S. leg of his tour in full swing, I thought that now might be a good time to review the record, something I'd been thinking about doing for awhile.  He's coming to NYC in a little over a week, and if I didn't have another engagement that evening, I would surely brave all the screaming teen girls to go check him out.  Ah well, maybe next time.  Anyway, here's my take on all of the tracks on Harry Styles...

Meet Me in the Hallway

The serious tone of much of the record begins with this acoustic and melancholy piece that speaks of someone who's been jilted by someone, yet would jump back in a heartbeat.  The melody is haunting and the vocals in the verses and the chorus evoke both the sadness and desperation of the abandoned lover.  Check out the audio of this track here.

Sign of the Times

Styles' debut single is another melancholic masterpiece.  This one reminds me of something the Beatles might have done in their later years, or perhaps early Elton John.  Styles revealed that the song is about a young mother who is told she only has moments to live due to complications of childbirth.  Woof!  The multi-genre tune was a smash for the young singer and deservedly so.  It's still one of my favorites on the album.  Check it out...

Carolina

The record picks up in tempo on the third track, Carolina.  This psychadelic jammer is straight out of the 70's and was supposedly written for a beautiful young lady with whom Harry once had an apparently memorable blind date with.  Take a listen to Carolina here.

Two Ghosts

We're not who we used to be
We're not who we used to be
We're just two ghosts standing in the place of you and me
Trying to remember how it feels to have a heartbeat

The fourth track is an easy breezy acoustic gem that's thoughtful and reflective.  The album's second single has been compared to the likes of Pink Floyd, George Harrison, Bread, The Allman Brothers, and even the Rolling Stones.  Perhaps it's just a wonderful mish-mosh of all of these influences, and it's s good.  Check out a live, studio performance of the song...

Sweet Creature

Sweet Creature was a promotional single released just ahead of the album and this acoustic folk tune is simply sweet.  Check out the song on John's Music World Song of the Day from May 30th.

Only Angel

The sixth track off the album is one of two up tempo rock tracks.  The tune starts off with an, um, ethereal and 'angelic' intro before kicking into overdrive with nice guitar riffs and hard driving vocals. Great tune! Check out the audio of Only Angel here.

Kiwi

The hardest rocking tune on the record has had people speculating that Styles has a secret child with a New Zealander.  Hmmm!!!  This one is fast-paced and hard driving and exemplifies the variety and range of genres found on this wonderful album.  Check out a performance of the tune right here.

Ever Since New York

Oh, tell me something I don't already know

My favorite tune in the set is simply brilliant.  The arrangements, the lyrics, the soft guitars, and the beautiful vocals.  Love, love, love!  I posted this video of him performing the song on the Today Show and it's definitely worth another look and listen...

Woman

The ninth track off the album is admittedly my least favorite, though it's still pretty darned good.  It's a slow moving, dramatic rock ballad that's reminiscent, to me, of something Prince might have done. Check out the audio of Woman right here.

From the Dining Table

Harry closes the marvelous set much the way he opened it, with a melancholic ballad that Inquisitir's Kim McLendon compares to Nirvana's Kurt Cobain on his Unplugged performance of Where Did You Sleep Last Night?  The comparison is not far off, surprisingly, and it just goes to show you the incredible range of Styles' style on this album.  From the Dining Table is simply a beautiful and thought-provoking way to finish this stellar debut album that has made me a bona fide fan.  Check it out right here.

Flashback Friday Song of the Day - I Don't Feel Like Dancin' - Scissor Sisters

5199jhn6fgl

Where oh where have Scissor Sisters gone?  It feels like forever since we've heard from them.  Well, that's because they've been on hiatus since 2012, though they did release a largely unnoticed but not bad single called Swerlk earlier this year with MNDR.  Anyway, I heard this song the other day and it made me happy...it's that kind of song!  So c'mon, click play and get happy too!  Here's I Don't Feel Like Dancin'...

Song of the Day - Back to You - Louis Tomlinson, feat. Bebe Rexha & Digital Farm Animals

Image result for back to you louis tomlinson

Oh, those boys from One Direction are really churning out new music at a seemingly rapid-fire pace. With the initial departure of Zayn Malik (whose own solo music I just can't seem to wrap my head around.) and the subsequent hiatus of the band, Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Niall Horan and Louis Tomlinson have all put out some pretty impressive stuff individually.  Here's a nice, radio-friendly ballad from Tomlinson, with a little help from singer Bebe Rexha and deejay/producer Digital Farm Animals.  Check out Back to You...

Song of the Day - Would You Ever - Skrillex & Poo Bear

Image result for would you ever

Good morning and Happy Tuesday to all!  I'm sitting here wondering why I haven't posted this recent Skrillex jam, being that I gave it a shout out way back on August 2nd's New Music Fridays.  Nice, more mainstream tune than we're used to from multi-talented EDM mixmaster Skrillex.  Check out the thumpin', bumpin' Would You Ever...

Song of the Day - Trouble - Disco Killerz, feat. Alida

Image result for trouble disco killerz

I don't know about the name of this act, but seems like they're not killing disco, they're reviving it. Ah, this is one of those tracks I like to call neo-disco because it's got that feel and it's so easy to dance to!  Trouble is a song that takes a couple of listens to sink in, but when it does, you'll be swaying' your hips in no time...

Song of the Day - Staying Up - Matoma,& The Vamps

Image result for staying up matoma

The Vamps have teamed up a second time with Norwegian deejay'producer Matoma for a sweet-sounding and catchy tune that'll make you wanna sing along even during the first listen.  The last time these two acts got together, the results were a smash as All Night became a huge smash all over the world.  This one may even top that.  Check out Staying Up...

New Music Fridays, September 15th, 2017 - Fresh New Tracks

Hello and welcome back to John's Music World New Music Fridays.  It's been kind of a slow week in the new music world, well for me at least, but as always there are a few gems to be found.  Read on...

Too Much To Ask - Niall Haron

Former One Direction member Niall Horan celebrated his 24th birthday this week with an announcement of his debut forthcoming solo album, Flicker, and a brand new song.  Too Much To Ask is a beautifully performed ballad that, along with his previous song This Town, just might bring him in league with fellow One Directioner Harry Styles as one serious solo crooner.  Take a listen to Too Much To Ask...

Best Friend - Sofi Tukker

The New York based duo Sofi Tukker has been growing on me more and more ever since I first came across their song Johny and it now looks like the rest of the world is catching on.   Their latest, Best Friend, is even more infectious than the ultra-clubby F**k They, which is saying a lot.  Check out the awesome Best Friend...

Find You - Nick Jonas

Former Jonas Brothers member gone solo superstar Nick Jonas had slowed down quite a bit after his breakthrough eponymous album, but now he's back with his second single of the year, and it's a sweet ballad that's clearly bests his prior single, Remember I Told You.  This one's impossible to find anywhere on the Internet, so I highly suggest checking it out on Spotify.

How You Feeling - Superfruit

Openly gay duo YouTube stars and musicians have released their latest single this week and it is instantly likable for it's nice rhythms and catchy hook.  Check out How You Feeling...

Flags - Shoffy, with Yuna

Anybody who follows this blog knows how much I love chill music.  Well, this fresh track has all of the resident ingredients of a great chill tune...soft, easy-breezy vocals and a smooth smooth groove. Check out Flags...

So there you have it, my picks for the best new music this week.  There's some exciting stuff coming up in the weeks ahead, so as always, stay tuned.

Song of the Day - Lonely Together - Avicii, feat. Rita Ora

Image result for lonely together avicii

After a long absence from the music scene, it looks like Swedish deejay/producer is back on track with some brand new music.  This one I featured on New Music Fridays back in early August and now, with a few weeks of sitting in my folder of current music, it's been growing on me more and more, especially with singer Rita Ora's powerful pipes guiding the song along.  Check out Lonely Together...

Flashback Friday Song of the Day - Low - Flo Rida

Image result for low flo rida

I've been listening to a lot of what I call dance rap jams lately.  Ooh, so much good stuff in that genre, all the way from the late 80's/early 90's right up until today.  In fact this genre's so much fun you may find me doing a special Dance Rap Jams Week here on John's Music World.  For now, here's one that always gets me moving...it's Flo Rida and Low...

Song of the Day - Love So Soft - Kelly Clarkson

I highlighted Kelly Clarkson's new song on last week's New Music Fridays and I'm appreciating it even more now after listening to it for a few days.  She's still got an amazing voice and I'm pretty excited to hear her new Meaning of Life record due out soon.  For now, though, check out Love So Soft...

Song of the Day - Crybaby - Paloma Faith

New Music Fridays: September 8th, 2017 - The Week's Hottest New Tracks

Hello and welcome back to John's Music World New Music Fridays.  As always, there is some great new stuff this week from the likes of Hailee Steinfeld, rapper ILoveMakonnen, Kelly Clarkson, Sam Smith and more.  Check out this week's hottest new tunes...

Let Me Go - Hailee Steinfeld, with Alesso and Florida Georgia Line

I have been loving everything actress turned singer Hailee Steinfeld has done so far, from the sweet and tender Starving to  the ultra catchy Most Girls.  This time Steinfeld's joined forces with country music duo Florida Georgia Line and Swedish deejay/producer Alesso for another irresistible pop gem.  Take a listen to this sure to be hit...

Love - ILoveMakonnen, featuring Rae Stremmurd

Rapper ILoveMakonnen has come up with an immediately likable rock tinged tune that had me loving it from the moment I clicked play,  Check out this foot tapper...

Love So Soft - Kelly Clarkson

Oh yeah, Kelly Clarkson is back and sounding better than ever on this catchy new sexy tune from her upcoming 8th studio album, Meaning of Life.  If you're a Kelly Clarkson fan, you are gonna LOVE this one...

Too Good at Goodbyes - Sam Smith

There's one more notable comeback this week and that is by former Best New Artist Grammy Award winner Sam Smith.  The smooth British crooner has released a brand new gem from an upcoming second studio album and its as stellar as anything he's done before.  Check out the beautiful Too Good at Goodbyes...

Up All Night - Beck

Oh man, I used to love Beck.  I absolutely wore out his 1996 record Odelay, but he completely fell off my radar since then.  When I saw this tune listed on Spotify's New Music Fridays, I was intrigued that he was still making music and checked it out.  Bottom line...he's still got it.  This one's catchy and pleasant and he just might make me a fan again.  Check out Up All Night...

Sometimes, like this week, it's difficult to come up with only five new songs to whet your appetites, so in addition to these great tracks, here are some other notable new releases:

Dusk Till Dawn - Zayn, with Sia
Disco Tits - Tove Lo
You're the Best Thing Abut Me - U2
I Just Can't - R3HAB, Quintino
Shockandawe - Miguel
Out of My Head - Loote

Song of the Day - New Rules - Dua Lipa

Image result for new rules dua lipa lyrics

Dua Lipa is a name you'll probably be hearing a lot of in the future.  The British singer released her debut eponymous album back in June and this song, the record's 6th single, has reached higher than the previous five and somehow now people are starting to take notice.  I featured it as the lead-off tune in New Music Fridays August 25th edition and for good reason.  Check out this tropical house gem...

Image result for rupaul supermodel

Today is RuPaul's Drag Con at New York's Jacob Javitz Center, a two-day extravaganza of drag queens, celebrities and much more, and I will be attending with my pal Tara.  I have no idea exactly what to expect, but one thing is for sure...it won't be boring.  So stay tuned for some photos and perhaps a post or two, and in the meantime, check out the song that started it all for Miss Ru...

Flashback Friday Song of the Day - Gloria - Laura Branigan

Image result for hurricane gloria

Back on September 25, 1985, Hurricane Gloria struck Long Island, and it's one of those storms those of us from round these parts remember well.  Today, we all watch in awe as Hurricane Irma. the most powerful storm to ever hit anywhere in the Atlantic, heads straight towards Florida.  I've got many friends down there and I hope and pray that they will all weather this monster without much damage, and I am sincerely hoping that Irma doesn't turn this way afterwards, which is a definite possibility. Laura Branigan's Gloria made its second surge on the charts back in September of 1985 due to the potential of that storm of the same name.  All I can say is Irma, please be gentle in Florida and then head out to sea because there's no song called Irma, at least that I know of.

Song of the Day - Jolene - Miley Cyrus

Image result for jolene miley cyrus

I was going through some saved links and I came across this one from way back and I must've saved it for a reason, probably to post it here.  Apparently, in 2012, Miley posted some videos of herself performing several cover tunes from her own backyard and called it...what else?  The Backyard Sessions.  Here the young singer covers a 1973 hit of her godmother's, Dolly Parton's fabulous Jolene.  Enjoy!

Song of the Day - Back to Life - Soul II Soul

Image result for back to life acapella

I've got two traditional songs I usually play this time of the year.  I'm not sure if I'll do the other one yet...stay tuned...but since today is the first day of school, well, it's back to life for me.  Getting back to life is always a good thing, whether we believe it or not.  Summer vacation is wonderful, but reality is what allows that to happen, so you've got to just do it.  So anyway, as I go back to school today with all of my kiddies, you click play and enjoy this absolutely awesome acapella version of Soul II Soul's Back to Life...

Song of the Day - Ever Since New York - Harry Styles

Image result for ever since new york

I've been finding myself listening to Harry Styles album often, and for good reason.  The record is remarkable in a lot of ways, and each track tells a different story in varying genres and sounds that are equally good.  It's actually the first album in a long time I am considering reviewing because it's simply stellar.  Here's one of my favorite tracks from the set, a melancholy tune that's got a fantastic hook.  Check out a performance of Ever Since New York from the Today Show...

New Music Fridays: September 1st, 2017 - A Great Week in New Music!

Hello and welcome back to John's Music World New Music Fridays.  What a stellar week this is in new music.  I've bookmarked no less than fifteen hot new tracks to my Current playlist and though I won't speak of them all, I will give them mention.  Here we go...

What Lovers Do - Maroon 5, featuring SZA

I've never been a big fan of Adam Levine & Co., but I am sold on this fresh, R&B sound.  The song is sweet and easy on the ears and for me to have downloaded it, you know it's good.  Check it out...

If I'm Lucky - Jason Derulo

I really dig Jason Derulo's sound, whether he's wantin you to want him or he's swalla la la la-ing, he always gets me moving.  This new one is more middle of the road and a little more mid tempo, but funky and very smooth.  Check it out...

So Am I - Ty Dolla $ign, featuring Damian Marley & Skrillex

Ty Dolla $ign is another artist I never would have imagined having as a lead performer in my playlist, but this reggae twinged track has got me loving him right now.  Take a listen...

Selfish Love - Jessie Ware

This sultry, jazzy song is absolutely, groovingly awesome!   One of my favorite tracks of the week. Check it out...

It all started with  broken heart...

Girls on Boys - Galantis, featuring ROZES

I've been following Swedish production duo Galantis for awhile now, and though most of the stuff I've heard from them has been kinda Euro silly (but fun...remember Peanut Butter Jelly or No Money?), this one is way more mainstream.  With sweet vocals and a really nice backbeat, this one will be in my listening playlist for a long time to come.  Check it out...

Crybaby - Paloma Faith

Retro singer Paloma Faith has just released a new song from her upcoming fourth studio album, The Architect, and it is downright sweet!  I could definitely see this being a big hit, especially on Adult Contemporary charts.  Take a listen...

Obvious - Eden Prince, Cassie

Finally, a dance tune I can sink my teeth into!  Though this one is somewhat chill, it's got a nice, bass-y dance beat in between the soft vocals.  Though I've never heard of this artist, I am ready to check out some more of his work.  Have a listen to Obvious...

Truly, what a week!  The songs I've shared here are varied in style and genre and they're all great in their own way.  Ah, my Current playlist is getting jammed!  Like I said above, this was not all of the nice new tunes this week, only the best of the best.  Here are some honorable mentions that are also worth a listen:

Broken Machine - Nothing But Thieves
That's All - Mauwe
Staying Up - Matoma, The Vamps
Just Kids - POWERS
Love Is Alive - Louis the Child, feat. Elohim
Lambo - Maria Lynn, Steve Reece
Bad Ones - Matthew Dear, Tegan & Sarah

I finally got to building my Mary J Blige playlist on my Spotify account and man, that was a thre-plus hour trip down memory lane.  Mary and I go back a long way, and I have loved her ever since I first heard those famous voicemail messages set to a funky beat back in 92.  I've had the privilege of seeing her in concert twice, and her catalog is a huge part of the soundtrack of my life.  I've got so many favorite songs of hers, but this one just always gets me up and moving.  Here's Family Affair...

I introduced this song back on July 22nd's New Music Fridays and posted it again a couple of weeks later, and yet the tune still grows on me.  It's the perfect blend of tenderness and euphoria, as tender vocals and beautiful melodies blend with dramatic and dancey chords in a total ear candy experience. Take a listen as Canadian production duo Sultan + Shepard do their thing.  Here's Almost Home...
