One of the most successful bands to come out of Prince's reign of the 1980's was the Minneapolis-based group known as The Time. Lead by front-man Morris Day, who wonderfully portrayed himself as Prince's chief rival in the film, Purple Rain, and including would-be master producers Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis (who hit it big working with Miss Janet!), these guys had a sound that mixed funk, R&B, rock and dance music.
