Song of the Day - Magnets - Disclosure, featuring Lorde

British dance duo Disclosure has returned to the music scene with what my friend Demetrius calls one of the best dance-pop albums of the year.  The new album, Caracal, features fantastical collaborations with such artists as The Weekend, Sam Smith, LION BABE, Miguel and former breakout New Zealander Lorde.  This is one of my favorite tracks off the album, so click play below and check it out...

Song of the Day - Love Me Again - John Newman

Today's song may not be new, it was released in May 2013, but it is new to me.  I think I Shazamed it in the car one day recently and just downloaded it the other day.  I loved it immediately.  It's very rockish and anthemic and with a lot of soul thrown in to boot!  Check out Love Me Again...

Song of the Day - Sugar - Robin Shulz, featuring Francesco Yates

Got me tripping higher than the ceiling
Ooh, baby it's the ultimate feeling
You got me lifted feeling so gifted
Sugar how you get so fly

Well I finally downloaded some new music the other night, so for the foreseeable future I hope to be bringing you some fresh stuff to learn and to love.  I first started digging Robin Shulz a little over a year ago when his mix of Lilly Wood and The Prick's Prayer in C had me mesmerized for months.  I soon bought his Prayer album and was loving it!  So of course when I saw he's got a new one, I hit that download button without even listening.  My instincts are usually right when it comes to music, and I know a good deejay/producer when I hear one.  Here's the title cut to Robin's newest, Sugar...kinda retro funky...loving it!

Song of the Day - Wonder - Naughty Boy, feat. Emeli Sandé

Feeling a bit melancholy today, and so here's a mystical, inspirational track that always picks me up a bit.  Enjoy and Happy Sunday!

A Final Wedding Song of the Day - Marry You - Glee Cast

Well today is the final wedding of the month for me, and it's one I've been looking forward to for a long time.  In just a few short hours my friends Eric and Rick will finally be tying the knot after what has seemed like such a long, long wait.  These two gentlemen are among the nicest and most genuine people I know and they fit together so perfectly.  Needless to say, I couldn't be happier for them.  So congratulations my Eric and Rick!  May today be the beginning of yet another wonderful chapter of your lives together.

Flashback Friday Song of the Day - Midnight - Yaz

Midnight, it's raining outside yeah
He must be soaking wet
Everyone, is sleeping tight
God knows I've tried my best, but...

Darling you know it looks bad
Just lost the best thing that I ever had, well
Still I don't know why I did him wrong, yeah
It's too late now he's gone to stay

I said baby, Oh no
Can't leave me now
So think about me please
Cause I love you
And I need you
And I should've thought of that,
Before I did you wrong

Back in 1992, a British synth-pop duo by the name of Yaz, or Yazoo (look it up!), created an album that was full of great, great tunes.  Two of them were big pop-dance hits, Situation and Don't Go, but the rest of Upstairs At Eric's was just as good, especially the heart-rending Midnight.

Before there was Adele, there was Alison Moyet, another big-voiced Brit who could have been so much bigger than she ever was, but somehow she faded into obscurity.  Her voice and this song...the desperation, the lyrics...a true masterpiece of its time.  So if you've never heard Midnight before, please check it out...

Song of the Day - Satellites - September

Even an angel can end up falling
Don't you cry because you're crawling
Start again, it's a beautiful morning
For satellites

Here's an old favorite song of mine.  It's by Swedish recording artist September and it was pretty hot around dance music circles when it came out in 2005.  It popped out of my All Time Favorite playlist of mine on my iPod and I just knew I wanted to post it.  Check it out and enjoy!
