Summer Jams Song of the Day - Handle Me - Robyn

Let me tell you how it be
You won't get with this you see
Cause you can't handle me

Over the past five years I've become such a fan of Robyn.  It all started with the critically acclaimed Body Talk set of three EP's she put out in 2010.  Oh, so many great tunes can be found on those! Once I'd exhausted the Hang With Me's and the Indestructible's, Call Your Girlfriend's, Dancing On My Own, etc., I became impatient in waiting for her to put something new out, so I delved a little bit into her past and found a whole new set of great jams to dig.

Most Robyn fans are hardcore like me, and virtually every one of her songs is a precious gem to be savored and enjoyed with every beat and every word.  I remember an early and favorable review of the Body Talk series that said that her songs put a whole new dimension on what we know as pop music, and that is that the songs are intelligently written and meaningful, a statement with which I agree wholeheartedly.  Unfortunately, not enough people know a lot of her stuff, and so even though I knew I wanted to post a Robyn song, I had a really hard time deciding upon one to post.  She does have a couple of newer things going on (stay tuned for that!), but I want to share the older Robyn that I've come to love so much.

Handle Me is one of those earlier gems that came in between her 90's successes (Do You Know What It Takes and Show Me Love) and Body Talk. and I never would have found it had I not been eager for new Robyn music.  The song, like many of hers, is catchy and intelligent for a pop song, and the video shows the eclectic side of the singer that perhaps contributes the fact that she doesn't get a whole lot of attention in the mainstream.  I love it, though, and I urge you to give it a try.  You just might find a whole lotta new stuff to listen to...
