I just heard this song the other day and it was nice because I had forgotten about both it and the artist. His 2015 album by the same name is classic from beginning to end. Check out Sugar...
When I hear this song from Louis Tomlinson's upcoming debut album, Walls, I'm brought back to some of the great alternative music of the nineties. Click play and see if you agree. Here's We Made It...
Here's a song I first heard a couple of years ago. It's one of those sort of chill songs that has such a melancholic feel that I'm drawn to it whenever I'm sad. Lately it just feels like there's not much good out there, so yeah! Here's Song For Zula...
Cigarettes After Sex is an El Paso, Texas-based band and their music is ambient, chill, and very good. Here's a typically relaxing track off of their second album, Cry. Check out Touch...
This third collaboration between master deejay/producers David Guetta and MORTEN is being described as the newest version and the future of house music. Check out Make It To Heaven...
I've been watching the Netflix series AJ & the Queen, starring Rupaul recently and I have to tell you, just the music alone makes it worth the watch. Case in point, here's a song featured in one of the episodes that I had completely forgotten about. If you were around in the late 80's, you'll surely remember Pretty Poison's Catch Me I'm Falling...
I don't know too much about Irish newcomer Dermot Kennedy, but I can tell you his debut album Without Fear was released back in October and this beautiful song of his definitely deserves some attention. Here's All My Friends...
I hadn't heard this jam in a long time and then boom, out of nowhere, it came on the radio last night. All of a sudden I was rocking out for the first time in I can't remember. I'm thinking we're desperately needing something from both of these artists, perhaps another collaboration? Music is definitely missing the two of these artists lately. Here's Calvin and RiRi...
German Deejay/producer Felix Jaehn's latest creation is this funky little dance jam that's not only awesome musically, but lyrically as well. Check out Close Your Eyes...
Yesterday was singer Sade's 61st birthday. That, coupled with her recent announcement of new music, her first since 2010's Soldier Of Love, surely deserves a spotlight this Friday. Exciting news indeed! Here's one of hers, and one of the, greatest songs ever...
Finnish singer/songwriter ALMA is back with a new single from her upcoming album Have U Seen Her?, and it's an upbeat in your face kinda jam that packs a punch. Check out Bad News Baby...
The year 2020 has already seen its share of deaths, and we added another one yesterday as Rush drummer Neil Peart lost a year's long battle with brain cancer yesterday. I was a big Rush fan back in the days of their classic Moving Pictures album in 1980, and this song, oh this one, was a song to hear in headphones with the volume turned all the way up. Classic! Here's Tom Sawyer...
I remember watching P!nk on VH1 Storytellers talking about the meaning of this song. Before that I had always thought that it was about a lost love, which is what is may seem from the lyrics, but that wasn't it at all. She said she'd written it for a friend she had in high school, one of the school jocks, who'd accidentally died from an overdose. She continued to say that over the years, whenever she performed the song, the person she thought about and for whom it became would change as various people in her life passed away, her grandmother, her friend, even her dog. Well, today I'm borrowing that song for my sister as we say goodbye to her for the final time. It's going to be a difficult day. Sigh!
Just a couple of weeks ago, my sister Chrissy asked me if I'd like to go with her to see Alanis Morissette in June and when I said I would she got so excited. It was, in both of our minds, something to look forward to and hopefully something that would make our relationship that much closer. She loved her family and I think she carried a lot of guilt for what she thought was a disappointment to us. In reality, she never fully realized that through all of the troubles, we loved her back unconditionally anyway.
I chose this song for today because too many people, including my sister, don't always learn from their life's mistakes and only repeat them over and over to the same result. I've always prided myself on learning from my experiences and though I know it can be difficult, oftentimes not learning from them can lead to a tragic ending. So please, the next time you make a mistake in your life, take a step back and look at what you did and why it was a mistake, and learn from it. It could only make your life a better one! Peace!
I've been listening to a lot of P!nk this weekend and the Funhouse album especially brought me some joy. Here's one of my favorites live. Check out Bad Influence...
I caught a list of the top dance songs of the decade from Billboard Magazine the other day and when I saw this one I just knew I should post it. Great song! Here's Wake Me Up...
Today's song is from Aussie duo Lime Cordiale and sort of reminds me of something I might have heard back in the 80's, catchy, a little corny, and of course, a lot of fun. Check out Robbery...
Today's song isn't posted really for music's sake. I never really liked this second single by Frankie and the gang, but the video more than makes up for it. It wasn't long ago that the Cold War was still a big threat to world peace and this video came as a warning of what could happen if it ever heated up. Luckily, the Cold War ended, but in the years since then, Russia has proven to show it is still an adversary to us.
It seems these days that many Americans forget just how much of an adversary the Soviet Union was, and still is. Though the USSR no longer exists, Russia remains an oppressive state and its despotic leader continues to use Soviet-style strategies to spread Russia's influence far and wide, even here. Imagine Putin and Trump replacing Yeltsin and Reagan in this video. Would it still be the same, or would we see more of a tag team style match, the two of them against the world rather than a fight to the finish between them?
One of the most surprising things of this era is that many on the right view Russia favorably, with a spike in that favorability rating coming in 2017 at 40% favorablity amongst Republicans. (I wonder why!) Even more startling, there are a great number of Republicans who favor Russia over their fellow Americans, namely Democrats. It should be no surprise to anyone why this statistic exists.
While Putin's interference in our 2016 Presidential election should have been met with anger across all political affiliations, the side that won that election, no doubt partly due to this attack, seem to not care. That, to me, is a very sad state of affairs and very telling of the state we are in today. So for anyone reading, please watch the video and be reminded that even though the Cold War is long over, Russia is still not our friend and we should all, always, put country over party. Here's Two Tribes...
Lauv is definitely one of the most underrated singer/songwriters of the present time, and it shows on this recent collaboration with LANY. This laid back track is easy on the ears and super catchy, so you need to check it out. Here's Mean It...
I don't know about you, but I, for one, am glad that 2019 is over and the Roaring Twenties are now here. I have no idea what's in store for the new year...probably some good things and bad things and sad things and...well, life. Just like any other year.
Well, today is the first day of a new year and so we all begin anew with a fresh new page in our lives. At least for now we dream that 2020 is gonna be the best ever. Happy New Year!
