Pride Month Song of the Day - Let's Hear It For the Boy - Deniece Williams

It's still Pride Month and here's a classic originally from the 80's and the Footloose soundtrack, but was also featured (with singer Katy B) in the very first episode of the sizzling Showtime series Queer as Folk.  Well, I figured I'd combine the original by Deniece Williams with the theme of Pride...why not?  Here's Let's Hear It For the Boy...

Pride Month Song of the Day - Absolutely Not - Deborah Cox

Canadian singer Deborah Cox is somewhat of a gay icon.  With a string of dance hits from the late 90's and beyond, her songs reside in many a gay playlist.  This hit from 2002 appeared on the Queer As Folk, Season 2 soundtrack and for good reason.  The power beats, sassy lyrics and strong vocals were typical sounds heard at the mystical Club Babylon.  Here's a live performance of Absolutely Not...

Well, Pride Month still has a couple of days left in it, so we've still got some LGBT-flavored music to share with you.  Today's song comes from the soundtrack to the third season of the groundbreaking Showtime series Queer as Folk.  Kristine W, a powerful singer who's done a lot of dance music, breaks out with this hi energy clubber featuring the cast of the show.  Cool!  Check out Some Lovin'...

Pride Month Song of the Day - Dive in the Pool - Barry Harris, featuring Pepper Mashay

Back in the early 2000's, there was this cool television show based on the British series of the same name.  Queer as Folk was as shocking as it was groundbreaking here in the U.S., and for five seasons people from all walks of life tuned every week into Showtime to catch the dramatic, and often steamy, life and times of a group of gay people in Pittsburgh, P.A.  Along with each season came a brand new soundtrack filled with club ditties that were heard on the show during scenes at Club Babylon, the fictional dance mecca that drew big crowds of revelers almost every night.  Here's a jam from the first season, a song that got some fierce vocals by singer Pepper Mashay set to slamming club beats.  Check out Dive in the Pool...
