Posting a song like this reinforces my doing this blog, as I love to share great music that you might not really catch anywhere else. Big Wild is an artist with a gift for catchy, groovy, and little dance/chill vibe up in there. No Words was not a single of his album, Superdream, but it is one great song. It's very chill, very toe-tappy, and the crescendo is downright spiritual! Here's No Words...
Well, I am back from my weekend road trip to Hershey and I am ready to get back to life. During our trip, there was one song in particular I included on my Hershey 2019 playlist that my fellow roadsters seemed to like, and that's this ska-inspired fun song off of The Vamps debut album. Here's Girls on TV...
Heading out on a road trip to Hershey this weekend and thought of this classic from rocker Tom Cochrane. Oh, this one always gets me going. Here's Life Is a Highway...
I've been meaning to post this one for awhile now. It's the first in a long time for Natasha Bedingfield...nine years to be exact, and from beginning to end, this one's got that same inspirational feel to it that she's known for and that I love so much. Here's Kick It...
Harry Styles isn't the only former One Directioner to put out new music lately. Fellow crooner Niall Horan just released this very likable tune from his upcoming second album. Check out Nice To Meet Ya...
Here's a recent find by a young upstart named Julian Lamadrid that has seeped deep into my mond ever since I added it to my Spotify. The sound is very 80's and the song is, well it does seep into your mind slowly but surely. Check out Die Young...
I heard recently that Pat Benatar is nominated to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame this year and I am so excited for her. Anyone around in the I Want My MTV era surely remembers Long Island native Benatar's videos in heavy rotation, with songs such as this one. Throughout the 80's and beyond, the singer, along with husband and guitarist Neil Giraldo, solidified their sound and were an ever-charting presence in the music world. I had a difficult time choosing which tune of hers to play, but this, to me, is a classic, and I distinctly remember it from MTV. Check out You Better Run...
If you're a fan of Orange Is the New Black on Netflix, you may recognize the voice of Regina Spektor, who sings the theme song to the show, You're Got Time. Well, here's another song by the soft-voiced singer that is just so pleasing to the ears. It's a perfect backdrop to coffee and conversation, relaxing at home, and just being happy. Check out Fidelity...
I had planned on posting this, one of my favorite songs ever, yesterday, but I never got around to it. You see, yesterday was a day that had been circled on the calendar for more than three months. It marked the end of a three-plus month ordeal of the anticipation of taking care of a dental problem I've had for a couple of years. Alas, as I awoke yesterday morning, when I was "Almost Home," I was too nervous for my 11 a.m. appointment at the dentist and never came back to it afterwards because I was drugged up and in pain. So anyway, here are Sultan + Shepard with an amazing dance song. Here's Almost Home...
Wow, wow, wow! I guess I was just as surprised...maybe even more surprised than anybody that Harry Styles dropped a new song yesterday. Of course, there are literally hundreds of reviews and posts about Lights Up and its accompanying video, and maybe a lot of that attention is an offshoot to post-One Direction mania. I look at the surprise as pleasant simply because I loved Harry's debut solo album and look forward to seeing where he goes next, musically.
Well, a little over 24 hours and a few listens later, I'm still trying to decide. The song seems nothing like any of the tunes on the previous record, and is not one that'll stick in your head after just a listen or two. That being said, it's got an ethereal quality that's soothing and melodic and I'm sure it will grow on me fast. As for the video, well it's very sexually charged and very appropriate for its release on National Coming Out Day. Take a look and see what I mean. Here's Light's Up...
I do believe this is the first time ever posting a Tina Turner song. This one reminds me of when the NY Rangers won the Stanley Cup back in 94'. Special! Here's The Best...
I am really loving Greyson Chance's latest eponymous album, and here's a mature, tender and very introspective song from the record. Check out the beautiful Shut Up...
Cheat Codes is definitely one of my favorite artists currently and this recent single, featuring Sofia Reyes and Willy William is sweet, just sweet! Check out Highway...
Jax Jones debut album, Snacks, is out now and here's one of my favorite tracks, a funky little ditty featuring Swedish songstress Tove Lo. Here's Jacques. Ooh la la la,,,
Okay, so officially excited. I am going to see Madonna this evening at the BAM Opera House in Brooklyn. I'd been believing that this would be the first tour I'd miss since 93's The Girlie Show because the prices for this one were exorbitant. All I can say is a phone call from a pal and StubHub did the trick for me and now excitement! Here's one of the tracks from Madame X, a neo-disco jam with a pretty powerful politically charged (and graphically violent---be warned) video. Here's God Control...
Here's a fresh new track by an Aussie artist who calls herself Tones and I. Strange name, indeed, but the tune kind of reminds me of something new wavey, yet darkish, from the 80's. Check out The Kids Are Coming...
Ah, Hump Day! Nothing like Wednesday to get you over the hump and down towards that wonderful weekend ahead, right? Here's a fun, dancey neo-disco jam by that wonderful comedic relief deejay/producer Dillon Francis. Just try not to smile and dance! Here's GO OFF (Nuthin' 2 It)...
